I saw this mentioned somewhere in another thread. I was living and working in NYC for 20 years until the early aughts, so I don't know much URI history during that period.

Where we actually being considered for the Big East, or is that just a semi-urban myth?

No, Dave Gavitt himself drove the formation of the Big East. He did not invite UMASS or URI

I still don't see why there's not a BC, PC, URI, UMASS, UCONN, BU, etc conference. Now THAT would be great, and less need to have virginia based teams in. In a dream scenario, we would have an all new england conference.

The answer is simple. Football.

Won't having good & bad teams together even them out? Even still... none of those programs are like Alabama/Auburn level...

I can see us playing UCONN again as a home and away OOC series.
