OT: Florida at Yale
OT: Florida at Yale
URI had inquired at one point whether Florida would play at the RC so Erik Murphy could play close to home. Billy D said as a PC grad he couldn't. Today they played at Yale. I guess that was Murphy's hometown game.

I went to the game. Yale kept it close for most of the first half, but faded quick.

Why wouldn't Billy D come back and play PC at the Dunk? At Yale?

Probably didn't want to play URI or PC simply because he was afraid to lose... and considering his team is a perennial bubble, he probably didn't want the stain on the resume come tournament time... that's why he lose to play a low-major instead of a PC, URI, or UConnIggy1979 wrote:Why wouldn't Billy D come back and play PC at the Dunk? Makes me wonder what interesting venues Rhody may play at over the next few years to let our new recruits play in front of many family and friends.

Florida's non conference schedule included Georgetown, Marquette, Wisconsin, Florida St, Arizona & Kansas State. I'm thinking they are not afraid of a loss to URI or pc.Jks1985 wrote:Probably didn't want to play URI or PC simply because he was afraid to lose... and considering his team is a perennial bubble, he probably didn't want the stain on the resume come tournament time... that's why he lose to play a low-major instead of a PC, URI, or UConnIggy1979 wrote:Why wouldn't Billy D come back and play PC at the Dunk? Shinze, I think they don't mind a loss to a "name brand" program like the ones you listed, but to lose on the road to a PC or URI would in their mind not be something they could convince others to accept.

Agree with Shinze, Fla is a top 10 school I dont think losing is the reason they are avoiding a PC or URI

I agree with ATPTourFan. Florida does not mind losing to a perennial high profile team that makes the NCAA most years. It however does not want to lose to a team such as a PC or URI that rarely makes the tournament.

Billy D did a 2 for 1 with PC during the back to back title years

LOL, technically it was a "neutral"-home-home.seanmc94 wrote:Billy D did a 2 for 1 with PC during the back to back title years
The neutral game just happened to be in Tallahassee, go figure.
