The shot across the bow against not having a practice facility.

When are we going to see a game thread for Saturday's game?

We do it for PC whenever they come to the Ryan Center
VCU Doors open 90 minutes before game time
With security enhanced, bigger crowds, think BIG URI - Open the doors and let the people in - just like VCU for every game. Save on the tent
Even if you open the doors early you're still going to have a line on that side of the arena close to gametime. Having the tent is the smart thing to do, for both the fans and the workers
Then do both.
People will be standing outside the doors before 9:30am. There will be security people, ticket people, etc all inside the doors looking out at the crowd
They will let people in the lobby at 9:30am
People can go to the store and buy things but have to come back out again
People will fill up the lobby and push crowd out the doors
Tickets will begin being scanned at 10:00
If we want to have an earlier arriving crowd then let the people who arrive early in, just like VCU

And have the tent as well - do both. But for big sell out games like this only allowing 60 minutes for 7700 people is not enough - not with security added, parking more difficult than in past years due to construction.

People can go in and watch the teams warm up, buy more food, drink more beer, m.ingle more, and be in their seats at tip off, for the National Anthem

Get the crowd in their seats. Get the Ruckus in their seats. Get the crowd revved up for the ESPN Broadcast!!!

If it's not a good idea for the sold out Bonnies game, then why should the PC game be 90 minutes doors open? - and forever has been 90 minutes?????

There is no difference - they are both sellouts.

If an 11am sellout, without students on campus, against St Bonaventure doesn’t signal to you that it’s a new day in Kingston I don’t know what will. Proud that Rhody nation has responded emphatically to the great product Dan is putting on the floor. Call me impressed.

This is my 1st game this year - I have a 2nhour commute

1) does the security go quick or is it a big logjam ?

2) which side is better - BOSS or MEADE ?

For PC it was like a 10 minutes wait for me 25 minutes before game time. Other games much shorter.

Security isn't terrible. It goes quickly and the wand-ers are very polite.

Ramettes face the Boss side. You can see the big screen better from the Meade side. Coin flip, IMHO.

Just break that 7000 Line. To call 7000+ A failure because it isn’t a capacity sellout is missing the point. too many media are fixated on sellouts when “effectively full” 7k plus games are what we need more frequently.

St Bonaventure Message Board has a pregame thread and a game thread that have some interesting comments
Several posters had great respect for Iverson and Martin and think they match up better down low this year.

ramster, the quote from one poster that said Langevine and Berry are "nothing special" should be posted on their lockers for tomorrow's game...

Agreed...I always found that while the walk to Boss/Keaney side is longer to/from the car, it is usually much quicker getting out, especially a sell out. It took a long time getting out of the lots on the other side after the Mason game.

I still think it will be a sellout. Even if zero tickets are sold today, average walk up sales will accomplish that. My guess is that by late tonight, there will be only a couple of hundred left. But I agree, 7000 would be a major accomplishment. I've said it before, once the students are back, the rest of the home schedule will be sellouts.

Kid from UMASS just set the program record for points scored in a game within a week of having another high scoring game.

I would imagine that UMASS faithful that would go to a URI UMASS game in Kingston all show up.

Great news on the ticket sales.
Great environment tomorrow morning with ESPN in the house.
Thor and President Dooley in the house too and you have an environment like no other for URI Sports and Excitement. Discussion about Dan's hinted at Practice Facility can become not whether or not we do this but when?

What happens if a lot of students show up for the game? Are they saving off tickets for that possibility.

I will also be making my 2017-2018 debut tomorrow. Actually it will be my first appearance at the Ryan since the 2014-2015 season.

And now for my degenerate question of the day; Will the Rhody Pub be open at 10:30am?

Some good seats have opened up in sections 204, 206 and 213 if anyone is still looking. There are only about 10 of them, so they won't be there long.

Credit also goes to the Athletic Dept. This game started with a great ticket base because it is part of the 5 game pack that had PC in it. PC game gave us great attendance for 4 additional games.

Students still aren’t back for UMass (1/17). Classes start Jan 22nd I believe.
It’s too bad that Rhody has 7 home games (4 of them A10) while students are on break.
Five home games left after students get back (7 away).
