Last year, 8 of the 10 Big East teams finished in KenPom’s Top 75. That conference helps itself. They’ve looked awful at times, but they have injuries. Not to state the obvious, but they’ll either figure it out or not. Meanwhile, Rhody controls their own season and has a chance to have a really fun conference run.RhowdyRam02 wrote:They're on the verge of no longer being a top 75 team. Re: Week #7 - Games of Interest
Before last night's loss rpiforecast had them with an RPI of 74.2. Like you said, we control our own destiny, but I'd like that to count as a quadrant 2 win if for no other reason than maybe helping our seed.ace wrote:Last year, 8 of the 10 Big East teams finished in KenPom’s Top 75. Wrapping up Wednesday night action:
Saint Joseph's was edged by St. John's, 77-73.
In a subpar performance George Washington got by New Hampshire, 68-64.
St. Bonaventure in a convincing win over Northeastern. The game was only close for the first ten minutes when SBU began to pull away. All five SBU starters scored in double digits.
Georgia State in a surprise beating of UMass, 71-63.
Also, #23 Seton Hall bounced back from its loss to Rutgers with a solid win over Wagner, 89-68.

My outlook on providence......lose every out of conference game even if it hurts our RPI......let them have a poor RPI ......and then let them go beat the teams in the big east who are in our RPI range....thereby ruining their ratings....

You gotta give a little to get a little.....I want our big east competitors for an at large bid to have bad losses

this doesn't make a lot of sense to me either. right now providence is not a competitor for an at large bid. for them to steal a bid from us, they would have to pass us first. and what happens if they don't go beat all those teams in the big east? then they have a bad RPI and our win over them means nothing.
I hope every team we play out of conference wins the rest of their games...well except for 1 loss each for Iona and FGCU.

Thank God none of you people coach this team. We'd have already packed the season in because we accomplished our "goal" of beating PC.
Since there are higher goals that actually equal college basketball success - A10 championship, NCAA birth, NCAA wins, etc.... I'm excited that this coach and staff recognize that fact.

(no i wouldn’t)
Let Fatts tell it: “It’s been crazy,” Russell said of life since his coming-out party against Providence. “A lot of people have been texting me, telling me how good I’m doing. But these guys keep me level-headed – E.C., Jared, all the guys. They just tell me that we’re not done. That Providence game was fun but we have a lot more to accomplish.”

Re: Week #7 - Games of Interest
UMass roared out in the first half to a 25 point lead over Maine. They ballooned the lead to 30 early in second half before Maine put on a rally to close the gap before finally losing, 74-63. UMass continues to be hot from the three point line hitting on 13 of 24 attempts. A sparse crowd of 1,481 witnessed the late afternoon contest.

FGCU’s Brandon Goodwin wears the tightest basketball uniform I’ve ever seen. Now, don’t get me wrong... he looks good, but he also looks like a sprinter.
This game is excellent. Good to see Markis McDuffie back on the court again.

Bonaventure blowing it. Don't see how they can win this. They haven't scored since I turned the game on 10 minutes ago. Too bad. Had it in the bag.

Bonnies score 13 pts in the 2nd half. Led 51-38 with 11:30 to go. Score 2 pts in the last 11+ and miraculously go to OT at 53-53.

Re: Week #7 - Games of Interest
Bonnie's goes to OT. Maybe they will score again?
They led 53-44 with 7:17 to play and didn't score again. Cuse also couldn't score for a while, but eventually tied it with an and-1 from old friend Paschal Chukwu.

Ugly ugly game but the Bonnies survive. The Bonnies really had a tough time with Syracuse's press and their zone defense.
FGCU will be a handful. They hung tough at Wichita State. On ESPN FGCU may have set a record as they show 19 players on their roster including four who are listed at 6'10". I think only 2 of them play meaningful minutes.

Bonnies RPI jumps up to low 30's. They will give Rhody two quality league games and opportunities for signature wins. The ESPN Saturday 11am game at the Ryan Center will be huge.

A10 is 6-1 today. Davidson playing New Mexico State in a pick em even game in oddly enough the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii!!
Duquesne with a solid win over San Francisco. Duquesne was a 5 point underdog playing out in Las Vegas. Mike Keeis with a strong game and freshman Eric Williams Jr continues his strong play. Candidate for A10 Rookie if Year.
