Spot RPIs right now aren't meaningful, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have a spot RPI at that level going into a weaker A10 season.

The important thing about the RPI right now is the SOS for URI. 2/3 of the OOC schedule is now completed for most teams. Most of the tournaments and challenges pitting top teams are done. The OOC RPI and SOS are not going to change a lot. URI has already played four top 27 RPI teams in just 7 games. Its eighth game will be against #18 Alabama on the road. It, unlike many other top teams, will play all of its remaining games versus teams that are pegged to be in the top 125. There are no more OOC RPI dregs (only OOC anchors will have been Holy Cross and Brown). Rhody will conclude the OOC portion of its schedule in a strong position provided it holds serve at home. This is especially important this season given the struggle of the A-10. There will be few opportunities for signature wins in the conference this year. Rhody will have to have a very good (13 or more wins) league record to maintain a strong full season RPI ranking.

I think you are looking at this wrong. Only two of five teams URI has played that are in the current top 27 RPI will be in the Top 25 by the end of the year. Look at the Expected RPI column in the Forecasted RPI (link below) because that factors in the entire season schedule.

Using the Expected RPI, Rhody will have two games against Top 25, fives games against Top 50 and 10 games against Top 100.

Thanks, Rhody83. Trying to move everyone's focus to expected RPI is very helpful. RF1's overall point is solid in that all opponents are now known and the only thing that matters within control of the Rams -- RPI Wise -- is whether future wins and losses are at home or away. This is the only variable in the Expected RPI other than the day to day adjustments to the weighted expected outcomes of all future games based on the Sagarin ratings.

The fact that following 'Bama the remaining OOC games are all at home and vs respectable conference leaders is great news for a NCAA-friendly Non-Conf portion of the schedule.
