I think they will be at 8-1 going into the @ Umass game. The next 6 games starting that game (with only the game vs Richmond a cupcake) will determine if they will/can crack the top 25.

Rhody is #30 in the AP Poll with 7 points, so unless our good friend Jon put us in the Top 20, at least one other person voted for us.

Edit: Aaaaand Jon Rothstein bumped us to #23 in his ballot. Other friends of Rhody are

John Feinstein (24)

Dave Borges & Elton Alexander (25)

Future Opponent West Virginia climbs to #2, their highest ranking since 1962 (45 years)
Virginia climbs to #3 - We lost to them by 15 in NYC but played without Cyril Langevine and EC Mathews
Seton Hall rises to #13 - who we beat in NYC

Cincinnati at #14 - who we beat at Mohegan Sun last year
TCU rises to #16 - who we beat in Cancun two years ago and will be in next year's Diamond Head Classic
Creighton enters at #25 - who we beat in the NCAA last year

Amazing job Dan Hurley has done with scheduling and with this program

Eric Williams Jr
Williams, who won Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, averaged 15.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in Duquesne's two wins last week. The New Haven, Mich., guard posted his sixth double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds versus George Washington, hitting a career high-tying five 3-pointers against the Colonials. Williams followed that with nine points and eight rebounds in the victory at Fordham. He shot .500 for the week (10-of-20), including 6-of-7 from 3-point range and 4-of-4 from the foul line.

Jay Bilas Top 68 Teams - has 2 from A10

37. Rhode Island Rams
Rhody is the best team in the Atlantic 10 and has won six straight. With a victory over George Washington, the Rams set a program record by winning its sixth straight A-10 road game. If you count last season's A-10 tournament, Rhode Island has won nine straight conference games away from home.

55. St. Bonaventure Bonnies
The Bonnies were 11-2 with a win over Syracuse before dropping back-to-back games against Dayton and Saint Joseph's on the road. Matt Mobley and Jaylen Adams comprise one of the nation's top senior backcourts. With Adams and Mobley, St. Bonaventure is one of four Division I teams to have two seniors averaging at least 17 points per game. The other three are Oakland (which has three), Saint Joseph's and Niagara.

Something worth noting when the new polls come out on Monday at noon. Rhody handled business this week once again with two wins. One being over a top 50 rpi team (that's overhyped). At the start of the week we we're sitting at 30th in the ap poll. The teams sitting ahead of us were: notre dame @26, florida @27, TAMU @28 all lost. Ohio state who is just in front of us one this week and is playing Rutgers tomorrow. There should be two teams out of the top 25, one being creighton and the other possibly being Miami. One rank behind us is Michigan who just beat #4Michigan state on the road. So my take on cracking the top 25 is it'll have to wait a week with us at #26. So let's root heavy for Rutgers tomorrow and some love from the AP. Maybe going in unranked will give them some motivation going into a hostile dayton environment.

Yes, depending on where you looked, it was 15 going into the game.

However, there's not much room left at the top. You have to leapfrog other teams in Power conferences who are stacking their RPI metrics with opponents and opponents' opponents with gaudy records. They're playing other teams with better RPIs or teams with SOS better than Bona.

All this is pointless, since spot RPI today isn't what will be considered on Selection Sunday. Keep your eye on the Expected RPI which will take a little jump upwards. This afternoon the forecasted RPIs will update and you'll see effect of the Bona win:

This is what I go by, as this is what ATP suggested to use last season. It is great!! Love to look at the various possibilities.
As I look today I also see the 15 current ranking, but note that the site is not yet updated with the St Bonaventure win, and the record is still 12-3, not 13-3. So once it is updated we can see if the 15 current changes.

Note also this has the expected RPI for all combinations of Final W/L record.

So a win over St Bonaventure keeps us on a path for ending with a good record.

Tough games ahead though on the road. Dayton, Davidson, St Bonaventure among others.

We're getting to the point where I don't expect us to lose a home game the rest of the way....we'll have to be careful against UMass though....a letdown could be possible.....but if we're ready to play we should handle business.

We will have to have our intensity at a high level for those road games ramster mentioned for sure.....actually all of them. We will get everyone's best shot as has been mentioned before.

I'd sign right now for 16-2 or 15-3.....then no worries in the conference tourney.

Ramster, the live rpi page on that site is truly live. The forecast page that doesn’t include yesterday’s results is the one we anticipate will show an improved Expected RPI.

ATP,
So are you saying that based on the post her that the RPI before the game was 15 and then after the game was 15 also?
I would expect that 15 is such a lofty number that even beating a St Bonaventure Team with an RPI in the 40's is not likely to move us up from 15, maybe even the possibility of dropping, would that be true?

Ramster you’re correct. Immediately after the game our RPI rank went to 14 and then 13, but like someone else mentioned, some other teams could’ve had better wins, or the the teams they played could’ve won. Our actual RPI calculation improved, but so did others so we stayed at rank # 15. All we can do is keep I’m winning!

Also, sometimes even if you beat a team with a good RPI, some of the other teams you’ve already played could’ve lost so it could cancel out any gains in your RPI calculation. I’m not sure if that’s what happened yesterday.

The other thing I like about LiveRPI.com is the ingame RPI which estimates what your RPI rank will be based upon the score and time left of the games which are currently being played. I think it’s the second column on the sheet.

Well that’s today’s rank of expected RPI positions. The expected RPI position improved to 20.1 from about 24.

Simulation says it believes URI will have an RPI position about 20 by time A10 tournament begins.

Here is longer explanation from the site itself:

EXPECTED RPI RANK is the best estimate for an individual team of its end-of-season RPI Rank. Because they are expectations, they do not have to be 1, 2, 3, etc.

OVERALL is the one most likely overall outcome for all Division 1 teams if I am forced to rank teams 1, 2, 3, etc. It corresponds to the RPI Forecast number column and may not be the same as ranking the Expected RPI Rank column.

Also Stan and Jared could get on the all defensive team. Fatts is going to need to step his game up if he wants to make the freshman team. I haven't been paying much attention to other freshman in the a10 but Fatts has had a rough time so far in a10 play.

Dan talked this week about the guys on this team sacrificing their own point scoring for the good of the team. He talked about the depth and guys not playing for individual statistics. I think this is a season about how far can this team go - and the individual awards are not of much consequence, if any. Really as it should be. This team is very unselfish.

Not suggesting anyone be “selfish.”

EC shouldn’t have had to share that freshman of the year award that’s all.

Awards come when you’re the #1 team. Would like them all to be recognized. Is that so bad?

Their conference record prediction is 15-3, up from 13-5.

They’re also now favored in all of their remaining games. The game at Bona moved to 52%, from somewhere around 46%.

Coming in at #25 on ESPN Power Rankings:

25. Rhode Island Rams
Record: 13-3
Last week: NR

A blowout win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday essentially confirmed the Rams are the clear-cut favorite in the Atlantic 10, as they have now won eight in a row. More important, they are 9-1 with EC Matthews on the floor, with the lone loss coming at Nevada. A neutral-court win over Seton Hall looks solid on the profile, too.
