E.C. Matthews - Discontinued Twitter Account

EC tweeted that he was going to take down his twitter account, and he did. Smart kid.

Matthews did, following tweeting how depressed he was.
He's taken a lot of crap for committing here, instead of a BCS school.
Maybe he got tired of it? Who can say?

He also changed his name to E.C. (Sly) Williams and will show up in Smith Hill on the first day of classes next year......what a turnaround...

I think we all should evaluate our social media footprints and dial back significantly. I'm glad E.C. gave up Twitter if it was having even the slightest negative impact. This kid has so much to look forward to and has a bright future, why allow any goon on the internet to send you direct messages to the contrary?

He really said he was depressed- that sucks...he is going to star here and he will get many more minutes to develop. I hope the staff is keeping in touch a lot considering the pressure he is on.

I know Dan and Preston have been to Detroit a few times since
EC's announcement.
He could be depressed about any number of things, non basketball
related.

It's probably easy for him to get depressed, with all the negativity around him concerning his choice of school. Good move to delete it.

As I said in EC's recruiting thread, Hurley's got to stay on him, until he finally gets here this fall. He's the key to URI's near future success, imo. He'd be hard to replace. Hurley would really have to hustle to find one nearly as good, by the April commit deadline.

I dont think any one of us have any clue why a 17 year old deleted his twitter. It could be because of anything. And most of the guesses here are probably wrong
