Palm Beach State Panthers Go 3-0 In BBC HoopFest

After a defeating a very talented Northwest State Florida team last weekend Palm Beach State picked up right where they left off winning all three of their games this past weekend at the BBC HoopFest in Wilmington, North Carolina.
First, Palm Beach took on USC-Salkehatchie and defeated the Indians 75-62. The Panthers received solid play from Jonathan Holton who finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds, Demetric Austin added 17 points and Carrington Ward chipped in with 12.
Next, in a tightly contested battle the Panthers defeated Brunswick Community College 78-72. Jonathan Holton led the way with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Carrington Ward had 17, Demetric Austin added 13 and Kevin Thomas put in 10.
Finally, Palm Beach ended their terrific weekend with a 82-60 route over Cape Fear. The Panthers controlled the game from start to finish. Paul Jones led the way with 24 points and 13 rebounds.
Palm Beach enters the winter break 17-0 and one of the nation’s best teams. The Panthers will have a ten-day layoff before the return back to the hardwood for a home contest against Community College of Rhode Island on Sunday, December 30, at 4 pm

CCRI is now 9-4. They have won 5 of last 6 since Desmond Williams has returned to the lineup following injury.
Williams is averaging 22 ppg. Williams has attended some URI games this year and is interested in Rhody.
Holton got National D1 Player of the Week in early December.

Will be interesting to see how Williams performs against arguably the top DI Team. CCRI plays DII.

Williams is an intriguing recruit. 6'6" SG, who scores from everywhere on the court.

By the end Baron was certainly taking some shortcuts. He was also recruiting Tashawn Mabry (who was facing murder conspiracy charges in North Carolina) and Ray Lee (who was facing sexual assault charges in Michigan). Holton fit right in.

If you check I think you will see that Coach Driscoll had a very questionabe background before his hiring. A phoney dipoloma, charges from an Orlando AAU tourney, Etc. Both schools should check but also understand that 17/18 year olds do make mistakes and their environment may have an influence on past behavior.Recommentions must come from more then just coaches.

A lot of kids with juvenile criminal problems have made their way to URI and pc....with even mentioning other highly esteemed institutions of learning over the past 30 years....

Isn't he playing for Little Ricky next year? Guys like him get multiple shots at being a D1 player. I think he will have a very nice end to his career if he can stay out of trouble.

Like the school would admit it? That's all covered under student-school privacy laws.

A lot of players have had juvenile criminal type issues....not just here but everywhere....and you would never know because Juvie records usually get sealed at age 18

Holton is going to Florida International, not Florida Atlantic.
Next game for palm Beach is not until January 12th. Not sure why he did not play against CCRI.
