Ty Boswell

This is pretty big news, in my opinion, deserving it's own thread. According to Dre, Ty is now an assistant coach.

This may have been the worst kept secret in basketball. Although I still feel a little dicey talking about it ahead of an official announcement from the program or a report somewhere in the media. That's why I haven't changed the thread title.

As TP said, a poorly kept secret.
So, is Carr the DBO?
Great and logical move, to boost recruiting,
especially in NE.

Yeah I was a little confused why everyone was sort of dancing around the subject in the Juiston thread. Thought it was pretty well known at this point. But I get wanting/needing to wait for an official announcement.

And won't be official until new fiscal year I would think.

So, Expressions players can now be recruited immediately, correct?

Yup. But I think none can be signed until after July 1st, and the first window after that is the November signing period.

I do think that verbal commits are OK until then, but not sure.

Trying to understand the T leaves, is there anybody significant that we think this would help us land right away?

Probably not for the spring cycle,
but he certainly represents a huge step forward
in NE recruiting.

Players will be watched closely by all Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches in Nike EYBL, Under Armour and Adidas AAU Tournaments through mid to end of July. Most verbals will happen after than and then signing is in early November.

Point is Boswell is already out and about, as are the other Coaches.

So the work, scouting, courting, whatever you want to call it is already in motion. Then decisions and announcement come but mostly in August, September, October and beginning of November

Ty's been in Hampton, Pittsburgh, and Atlanta the last two recruiting weekends. Technically, schools can designate people to be on the road during these times regardless of job title. For example, Mullin is recovering from surgery, so they have their DBO on the road for April.

Is it 100% Carr is off the coaching staff now?

My understanding is the DBO can not recruit unless there's extenuating circumstances, like Mullin's surgery. So with Boswell on the road he's either been promoted already or there are extenuating circumstances.

There are extenuating circumstances. Carr is still technically the 3rd assistant until June 30th.

He will be paid until then, and his contract will not be renewed.

After that, Boswell takes that position. No need to say anything else for now.

Well this will play out very soon as verbals start happening this summer. 4* recruits will be the goal. At least two. We go to 3* recruits and things are getting dicey for 18.

We need to start seeing results on the recruiting trail....we've been told it should be easier to recruit 4 stars since we have supposedly become relevant again.

As for promise of playing time....every program does that. That doesn't make us any more special than anyone else.
