Providence to Host 2021 NCAA Tournament 1st & 2nd Rounds

Unread post by Billyboy78 »

Will be in Providence for 1st and 2nd round. This will be Fatts' senior year. Let's be a national power by then so we can get some "home" games.

If Dan can build off this year's success, it's easy to see how things could snowball with recruiting and on-court success. A top 5 seed should get us preferential placement. The team should have this date circled on the calendar as a goal to work towards.

The regional for 2021 will be at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with the A-10 as the host.

The only other upcoming fairly close NCAA sites are the regionals at Boston in 2018 (BC) and the 1st/2nd rounds at Hartford in 2019 (UConn) and Albany in 2020 (MAAC).

you can't say anything with 100% certainty, but I'd say yes pretty confidently. He loves RI, and nothing should lead us to believe he's looking to be somewhere else. If we start winning big and consistently like we think is possible, I guess you could start asking if we are a Dayton/VCU/Gonzaga like destination? or are we a stage for a top tier P5 job? I think Dan is loyal, but I'd love to find out either way.

The main problem with Providence is the venue size. Its small capacity makes it tough to get tickets to. The city however is actually a great host and set up perfectly for it (plenty of hotels, bars, & restaurants within walking distance). By the time of 2021, there should be five additional new hotels in the downtown area with one being directly across the street from the DDC.
