#1 rated bracket on the matrix is Bracketville.

They have us as a 6 seed slated to play the winner of Bama/Washington, for the right to play #3 UNC or #14 W&M.

At the rate we are going and the A10 is going, 6 seed seems fairly likely. Just need to continue to handle our business.

https://bracketville.wordpress.com/bracketology/

**As an FYI. Bracket Matrix complies all the data from final mock brackets before selection sunday for the past 5 years. They award points based on in/out of the field, and seeding/seeding close to the actual number. Having the #1 ranking as a bracket in the matrix means that they have been consistently the most accurate over the last 5 years in accurately predicting the field and their seeds.
Which is why that's the one I keep posting and I ignore the Lunardi ones

Not unless you are a donor.

You'll have the opportunity as a season ticket holder, but availability will depend on your priority point standing as a donor.

You can certainly get on the list and help your cause (and help our program and help Dan Hurley stick around) by donating though!!

The RPI moved up to #13 this morning. This may be the ceiling for the rest of the year. URI is not likely to get much of a boost playing (even with winning) A-10 games given the weakness of the league this season.

That depends obviously, but according to RPI wizard running through the A10 with only one or two losses the rest of the way will give us a top 10 RPI.

I thought a game with UMass would have a negative impact. It didn't. Seton Hall losing however did help as they had been ahead of Rhody.

If we are an 8/9 seed, I love the bracketing with Villanova. Although I would love to be the 6th seed in the East in this latest bracket.

Strongly agree. I've said something similar in previous years, although my argument is slightly different. While I agree with everything Lunardi says here, I think the best argument went unsaid in the article: a team that is 7-9 in the ACC has had their chance. We know where they stack up against elite teams - beating a good team or two on your home floor out of a half-dozen-plus chances doesn't prove anything but the law of averages - whereas we legitimately don't know where Illinois State stacked up last year or Bonnies two years ago. Maybe they are really good teams that played a bad game at an inopportune time in their conference tournament; a 7-9 team may be OK, but we know it isn't really good. If it were, it wouldn't be 7-9. Those teams have had the opportunity to show their worth and they failed, so give other teams the opportunity by giving them the bid.

I agree with this also. .500 in conference play makes sense and still adds added intrigue in their conf tourney game to finish over .500 if they win
I hate teams that go 7-9 in conference or 8-10 and they still get a bid

Should be a requirement that to get a bid, you have to finish at least .500 in conference.

Maybe but the point is that there should be criteria in place that would allow URI and Illinois State to make it while leaving the 28th best P5 team at home. It shouldn’t always be pitting the URIs and Illinois States against each other for one of 4 or 5 “mid-major” spots.

I don’t think that’s possible. Usually you only get preferential seeding (closest bracket to home for 2nd weekend games) as a top 4 seed.

Also if I remember correctly Illinois state played a shit schedule OOC, played in a shit conference, and didn’t beat anyone.

That’s why rpi is seen as a less attractive metric because if you just take care of business against shit teams your rpi will look good.

lol lets get there first. I remember having lunch in college talking about how high of a seed we could possibly have then we collapsed like no other down the stretch and missed the tournament.

Love being in the discussion right now, still gotta take care of the work.

That would be fantastic - to be able to face the winner of the 5/12 match-up for a trip to the Sweet 16 and avoid any of the truly premier programs in the first weekend.

The Bonnies dropped down to a 52 RPI, would LOVE for them to be in the top 50 come selection sunday.

Also Iona bumped up to 100 which is very nice. Turns a mediocre win into a top 100 one.

Dayton and Davidson are both on the fringes of the top 100, we should be rooting for them every game (not against us, duh) that way they can secure their top 100 RPIs.

That would leave us the potential of having NINE top 100 wins at the end of the regular season

Very true. Completely blanked on their new system there.

I should be acknowledging the importance of teams like Dayton, VCU and Davidson keeping their RPI in the top 135, that way our away games there count for quadrant 2 wins.

Also, if Dayton (94) gets hot and manages to get their RPI to 75, yesterday's game will be quadrant 1

Can we dream of a 4 seed? Imagine being the favorite in both of our first 2 games? That's how important every game is. If we get a couple of losses, that's not happening, dropping to a 6,7 or 8. We are favored in every game the rest of the regular season. Yes, it will be difficult to go 18-0, but not impossible.

My opinion is that because of P5 bias the Rams will not be a 4 or a 5 seed this year.....the poor condition of the A10 is the reason.....a 6 would be obtainable in my opinion and would be the best seed I could remember for us

I think if we finish undefeated in the A10, with a top 10 RPI, there's no way we wouldn't be a 4 seed. Otherwise, somewhere between 5-8, depending upon how many loses we end up with. I'm predicting 16-2, with a couple "good" road losses (Davidson & Bonnies).

If we ran the table you're looking at an RPI of about 4. The other metrics that don't love us quite as much as RPI - KenPom, Sagarin, BPI, etc., would also continue to get better over the course of another 14 straight wins. I don't think that team would be a 6 seed. Wichita has gotten 1 seeds playing in a much worse conference than the A10 is this year. A team that is 29-3 with an RPI of 4 is not going to be a 5 or 6 seed.

I think this is all academic because the chances of running the table aren't good even if we will be favored in every game. But mathematically I think it is possible to do better than a 5 seed.

So, even if we win out, go 18-0, 29-3 , have a 24 game winning streak and are ranked around 10th (no, I am not saying all those things are going to happen), the best we can do is a 5 or 6 seed? That really sucks.

That would suck, idk maybe it’s me I just have no faith in the committee giving us a 4 and a 4 would be the right call if we did run the table, maybe ur right though

The committee just blows though, maybe that will change because of the new quadrant wins/rankings and will help us

Billyboy - I think that's an emotional argument people are making. In the scenario you outlined (or I outlined above), that team is more likely to get a 2 seed than a 6 seed, more likely to get a 3 seed than a 5 seed, and most likely is a 4 seed.
