I'm guessing these events are now being more widely promoted to the general Alumni Assoc members vs select members last week and earlier. I've asked Christina to confirm requirements to register since that has been a difficult bit of information to secure.

I see that Tom Erhardt, great URI QB from the 80s, is an attendee at the NY stop.

I hope Mike Fascitelli knows about the NY one. I think he still lives there. He's probably our wealthiest alumnus.

Actually thats incorrect, the article I read said Ryan's severance package was $185 million. Not able to find Ryan's net worth.

I remember Mike because I played against him in high school. He was a good basketball player. We were at URI for the same 4 years. He probably wouldn't know me now. When we were freshmen, he played basketball. I don't remember if it was a freshman team or a sub-varsity team back then. But he was good enough to make that team. Obviously he is a very bright guy and a tremendous businessman and probably the most successful URI grad ever.

Vornado is one of the biggest commercial real estate firms in the city, names on dozens and dozens of buildings in some of the most desirable commercial neighborhoods in Manhattan (and I assume beyond).

Must be a lot of back and forth with the extension details.....will we see a firm commitment to build the BB practice facility?

That might be what's holding things up.

I'll tell you what though, time keeps slipping by, two weeks have now passed and there's still no word on an extension or upgrades to the program.

We're now in the spring recruiting period, signing day begins on Wednesday. An extension/upgrade announcement would give the program a PR bump and be helpful in recruiting 2017's and especially 2018's where we are going to need a large, skilled class of recruits.

My guess is, Dan will be asked about the status of the extension and related upgrades at this get together....Thorr and Dooley will also be there I would think.

As for recruiting questions, unless a recruit has verbaled and/or the school has received an LOI, not much can be said.

Solid event, no big news. Dan addressed the challenge of scheduling and some of the weakness of the A10 and how the league needs to schedule the top teams against each other twice each season. He also talked about recruiting for a minute, expressed how impressed he is with Fatts and how good he is, also said the staff is looking for a big man for this year and said the '18 class is hugely important.

You're right rammer time....nothing new to see here.

As for the A10 schedule, who determines who are the best teams every year? It would be nice to play VCU, Dayton twice every year, but that smacks of favoritism......the league as a whole has to schedule better...and breaking news....they have to win some of those games against better teams OOC.

No matter how hard it is to actually schedule top 50's and 100's OOC. And last but not least, the bottom feeders in this league have to step it up and commit to get better....or the A10 should get rid of them, somehow.

Opened up for questions, Dan was asked about playing more zone, to which he laughed a bit. He was asked about the incoming coaches in the conference and mentioned that he thinks they all have really good coaching knowledge, guys with a reputation of really knowing the game. He was also asked about scheduling & recruiting which I mentioned earlier. Mentioned multiple times about the conference not providing many opportunities for good wins, and the pressure that creates when those games come around. Good sized crowd, seemed upbeat. Not very much NCAA tournament discussion from Dan, mostly thoughts looking forward.

Seems Dan isn't too enamored with the state of the A10.....something Archie and Wade mentioned as reasons for leaving....

Well we're sort of new to the party so to speak, as far as a top dog in the A10.....the challenge is to stay there.....

I guess we'll have to wait about any program upgrades until the extension details come out.

He said the goal is to have 2 away games OOC going forward, said we were the only top 50 RPI team to play 3 true away games OOC this past year. Trying to get a high level home and home series started with a home game this year (to pair with the PC game). Trying to get 2 home & home series started with away games this year to then fill in at the RC next year without a PC home game in the mix.
