I wonder what team members were involved (if any) - sounds like it could have been him protecting them - who knows.

That was my initial thought too. My guess is he went to look after whatever players went, and stuff escalated.

Still an awful awful look for the team.

"South Kingstown police said they anticipate more charges in the future."

I don't like the sound of that at all.

If those additional charges include players, this could be bad...

Cyril among Rothstein's 20 breakout players to watch in 2017-2018. Good company too...

Cyril Langevine, Rhode Island: The New Jersey native averaged 8.6 rebounds last season as a freshman in games when he logged 20 minutes or more. With Hassan Martin and Kuran Iverson no longer a part of the Rams’ frontcourt, look for Langevine to be Dan Hurley’s most reliable interior piece as Rhode Island aims to reach the NCAA Tournament once again.

If Cyril can stay out of foul trouble and average close to 30 minutes , he could lead the A10 in rebounding.

And he doesn't even have to score a lot. I love his court vision and his passing ability. He's going to create a lot of easy shots for his teammates. He also takes very good care of the ball. Jeff, Jarvis and Fatts give us great depth at the PG position.

*** also highend defender. Can't take that for granted even though we have had so many great defending guards over the past few years.

The height matters in passing lanes and close outs.

The writer, Matt Cox, can't make up his mind. In the link above, he says Jaylen Adams will be A10 player of the year. But in the Rhody preview he says "The leading man in this (URI's) cast of characters is the odds-on favorite to win A-10 player of the year, E.C. Matthews."

Preseason 144 Madness now listing up to team ranking 55 with 54 teams still to be named. 9 A10 teams listed in the Top 144.

St Bonaventure listed today as the 43rd ranked team

Only question now is how high does Rhode Island get ranked?

9th - Lasalle ranked 125
8th - George Mason 108
7th - Davidson 84
6th - St Joseph's 72
5th - VCU 65
4th - Saint Louis 58
3rd - Dayton 53
2nd - St Bonaventure 43
1st -

I hate to criticize such a positive preview, but he fails to mentions Thompson's injury which may lead to a medical redshirt, and calls Fatts one of two freshmen (he's the only frosh). This makes me dismiss his entire preview.

as far as the team and the NCAA is concerned, Tertsea is a freshman due to the red shirt

I'm excited about the commemorative tickets coming out this month.

Very pleased Christian Thompson is sticking around and getting a year to get his whole body and game right.

To have a 5th year Thompson will be such a luxury.

Just about every coach in the country says they want to play fast. They say this because it gets fans excited and lands recruits.

Last year we played at a slightly below average pace compared to all other D-1 teams.

Dan values every possession like it's gold and I'll be surprised if he will be comfortable with a more up tempo style.

I guess we will find out soon.

Hope they figure out what is up with Holt and it is not serious. he is far too young to be having health issues. Reminds me a bit of Garrett's mystery illness last year. Took some time to pinpoint and treat. PC has it share of unusual early season health problems. Fazekas got mono two years ago and was out for an extended period.

Holt’s problem sounds like serious clones that a friend of mine had been a part of the intestine needed to be removed, Jarvis last year’s problem was he had colitis. That’s not a mystery to many anymore I don’t think.

"Jared Terrell, Rhode Island: If E.C. Matthews and Hassan Martin were the lifeblood of Dan Hurley’s program last season, Terrell was the veins and arteries. Built like an Adonis, the 6-3 guard has shoulders that stretch from Kingston to Los Angeles and is quietly one of the best two-way perimeter players in the country. There isn’t a program in college basketball where Terrell couldn’t have an impact."

Love Rothstein's coverage of URI hoops. Not sure if he's impressed with JT's skills or wants to ask him out on a date. Either way, I'm ecstatic the nation gets to see the JT that we all got to see the past 3 years (with all of the national tv games).

and too bad we didn't land this guy. Could we ever use him now

Rokas Gustys, Hofstra: This guy craves glass like most Americans crave turkey on Thanksgiving. Gustys had two games last season with 23 or more rebounds and has averaged 12.1 rebounds or more in each of the past two years. If there’s a loose ball during a Hofstra game, there’s a good chance this kid is going to be all over it.

A) you cannot guarantee he would be performing at that level against the teams we play in the A10 and higher.

B) I like our lineup without him juuuuust fine
