Bullock faded badly after a hot start.
Made lots of poor plays in critical points
in some key games.
Disappeared in a few games, too.
Plenty of folks not very happy with Bullock's play.
He also sleepwalked through their BET game vs Creighton. A win there and PC probably isn't in the First Four.

Also, for Bullock's sake, hopefully he won't seek advice from the same person/people that advised Ben Bentil...

If he doesn't hire an agent, he can pull out before the draft.

EC may have taken the same route- declaring without an agent, getting some feedback- if he didn't have the post-season knee issue to get straightened out. Although he's only played two seasons, Bullock (and EC, for that matter) has been on campus for four years- there's a lot to be said for getting a paycheck to play basketball while you have the ability to do so, regardless of the league.

The D-League also increased their salary to around 50K, which is a liveable salary, albeit no where near the salaries overseas.

VCU will take a step back next year, but they'll be back in the NCAAT soon enough, like the year after.

Dayton also.

Are we a sure thing? The next few weeks might tell a lot.

closest to one you'll find in the A10.

Still have our coach
Returning all 2 (could be 3) all conference players in EC, Terrell and Garrett (if he can get healthy and regain his old form)
Returning 2 standout freshmen in Dowtin and Cyril
Bringing in a stud recruit in Fatts

What do you mean by returning all 2 (could be 3) all conference players? Hass made second team, EC made 3rd team, Terrell made nothing. Are you projecting next year's all conference players? Jarvis didn't even start on our team. Dowtin will be the starting PG next year (he made the all-rookie team - something Jarvis never did).

Here come the gratuitous shots at Jarvis Garrett.
Who's going to play the 4, replacing Iverson?
Who backs up Langevine with good minutes?
I think anyone who watched the NCAAs realized,
nobody wins playing four guards.

The PG battle and the second starting Big are going to be the most interesting spots to watch to see how they play out. If JG is back to his old form (healthy, with the quickness and strength back), he's your starter as a Senior. It's easy to forget how good he was before he got sick. The young guys like Dowtin and Fatts will get their time. I'm sure others will disagree strongly with me on that one, which is fair. Hurley and his teammates all rally emotionally around Garrett, which was plain to see when he went down and got carted off in the Cincinnati game for those of you who were in attendance at Mohegan. If he's not back to his former self, then yeah, he'll likely be in his "change of pace" role coming off the bench like he was at the end of this year. In that case, I could even see a situation where Stan wins the starting PG spot, but it's likely Jeff. As for the Big, if it's not going to be someone like Shak who would be clearly heads and shoulders better than the other guys, then it's going to be a really interesting battle between Berry, Layssard, Akele, and Tertsea (I mean, who knows?). I think whoever makes the biggest leap in the off-season wins that job.

Our season depends on Langevine becoming more proficient offensively and learning how to stay on the court, foul wise. If he can be 80% hassan then we are going to be strong with our guards who hopefully keep improving.

I see Stan as a 2. Our best three defensive players are stan, jarod and thompson. Does anyone disagree with that?

Who is going to start at the 4 next year? I think Langevine will be solid at the 5. EC and Terrell will anchor the guards and either Jeff or Jarvis at point is a win. Does Akele show us something next year? Layssard is a question mark. We really don't have a shooting forward besides Akele.

This board ALWAYS compares apples to oranges. Langevine's freshman year was better than Hassan's. Martin had the breakout sophomore year and statistically maybe his best year. I'm wondering if Cyril matches that or beats it.

But Martin did have Gil to take a lot off of his shoulders.

People here mostly compare Cyril's worst moments to Hassan at his best in his last year. Langevine is special.

Do you really need a shooting forward when you start 3 guards?

When none of your guards shoots above 43% and 35% from 3,
it means your don't shoot well.
Having a forward who can score, inside and out, is a big deal.
Teams can guard the perimeter, when you have no inside or mid-range threat.
Iverson showed that having a guy who could score from
anywhere on the floor, helped the overall floor balance.
Jim Harrick always preached, "Hard to guard".
He said it meant you had threats to score anyplace on the court,
and defenses couldn't concentrate on one aspect of the offense.

Floor spacing is key, especially with a team of skilled guards. The more space the more lanes for Terrell, EC and Stan to slash to the hoop. Without an inside threat teams can sag off and stack the paint, cut off lanes for our guards which will turn them into jump shooters and won't be optimal based on their talent.

Im not looking at his stats but it seems to me that Cyril laid fewer ducks than he had 10+ rebound games.

Ducks being games he played 20 or more minutes and didn't have the big stats he had other games.

He had 10 against Houston and 11 against LaSalle. He came close in the Oregon game, where he scored 9.

I think Cyril will have similar stats to Hass in 14-15. He's going to be a monster on the boards. He has that desire and knack to always be near the ball which is difficult to teach. He fights for position and he's only going to get better as he gets older and continues to build strength. So we have one big that we can count on.... ONE.

One big that can get into foul trouble or be less than 100% or out due to injury......paper thin frontcourt.

When the only other 2 are a guy who's not really even a 3 [Akele] and someone who played like 8 minutes last season [ML] we've got issues.

Yes we have MT who's not ready even for next season.

This last scholly is so important.....got to get someone good, somehow.

I don't expect much if anything from MT.

ML was suppose to be a great get so hopefully he can bring something off the bench.

Akele is important. I thought he played he best game as a Ram against Davidson in the A10 semis. If he can be become more of a playmaker and hit the open 3 that will be huge.

Berry may be our best offensive big and if Hurley gets no one we have to get him minutes and sacrifice the defense. We need someone that can post up on offense.

I'm worried that he plans on playing 4 guards with Cyril.

You would think we would be attractive to big men who want playing time and a NCAA run. We need to land an impact big.

We'll see as these guys start committing soon....I would have thought we would be really close on someone....but crickets....I know that's happened before.....

An IMPACT big is the perfect way to describe what we need....not some band aid.

Things are setting up nicely for URI this coming season with Dayton and VCU changing coaches and some of the other movement in the A10.
