Nervous about this one. It is incredibly difficult to be the same team 3 games in one season.

These tournaments are going to kill me. From excitement right back to nervousness for the next one already!

I feel great about this game. We know them inside and out. Our biggest weakness is also our greatest strength: emotion. We play with it. When we're rolling and confident we're ROLLING.

This team has been in must win mode for WEEKS and done what they needed to do. We dominated Davidson on the road because Gibbs was sick or injured. At home we had to come back against them but Gibbs was on fire. He was the difference. Aldridge too.

These are guys who shoot from deep who will need their legs tomorrow, especially if they're trying to shoot from deep.

Aldridge played 40 yesterday and 40 today. Gibbs played 38 yesterday and 38 today. They were hard minutes too - La Salle made it a game and so did Dayton.

The guys who will be guarding them? EC - 33, JT - 32, KI - 30, Stan - 18.

The 3 time thing doesn't worry me. How many years were we beaten 3 times by Temple. We are the better team.

Win.

We've got tons of film on these guys. They run awesome 1/2 court sets. We defend 1/2 court ball as good as anybody in the country. Aldrich is deadly but we know his game. Gibbs 3 ball release is Curry like. Defend the three. Defend the pick n roll. Box out and rebound !!!

We got this!

Davidson is a smart well coached team. Will need to play tenacious D again like vs SBU. Will need to be better from the ft line.

Hopefully Davidson is tired and emotionally spent given their great showing in the tournament thus far. The bye doesn't usually pay dividends until the semis and finals and that is where Rhody is at.

It's fair to be nervous, but is there any statistical evidence that it's harder to beat a team a third time if you win the first two?

If DC hadn't won and we were facing Dayton, the Flyers with two wins in hand over us would have had to beat us a third time. I think I rather like facing the team we know we can beat. Furthermore, the Dayton games took an emotional toll on our Rams. The tough losses to them even carried over to the following games (LaSalle and Fordham). Just for the emotional aspect, it may be better that URI doesn't see Dayton again.

Which Davidson team shows up tomorrow -- the one we barbecued down there or the one that.damn near beat us on our home floor? Which Rhody team shows up tomorrow -- the one from the first 35 minutes last Saturday or the one that played the last 10 minutes?

Had to be one of the best free throw defenses we've seen all year. Davidson is not a good free throw defensive team. :D

Don't play Davidson's game......in other words keep the pressure on them....don't revert to half court offense too much...that's what Davidson wants....

They should wear down in the 2nd half...3 games in 3 days with Gibbs and Aldridge playing about every minute so far.

We need to pound it inside and not be down the way we were in both second halfs of the other 2 times we played them. We are worried about Jack and Peyton, they are worried about EC and Hassan. Our remaining supporting cast is better than theirs and we need to make the most of that. This is exciting, enjoy it everyone

Fuck them is right. This is OUR time. I hope Hurley reminds them of that loss 2 years ago.

Contain Gibbs and Peyton and we have this. We are the better team, let's go out and prove it. Keep doing what we've been doing. Nonstop intensity. Suffocating defense. Touch after touch after touch for HASS. Drive the lane, again and again. Good ball movement. LET'S DO THIS!!!

If we pressure them I think we break them. They will already be tired, Gibbs and Aldrich have combined to play 156 of a possible 160 minutes the last 2 days.

They are already a team who is notorious for wearing down late in games, add in their 3rd game in 3 days, and I like our odds if we force them out of the half court.

Since the start of A10 play Davidson is 8-11-1 in the second half and overtime of games. On average they lose the second half by 2.4 points per game. They've lost the second half of each of their last three games by an average of 7.3. We've won the second half in both of our meetings by an average of seven points. In their 8 second half wins the margin is 2.9. In their 9 non Rhody losses the margin is 6.2.

Dayton lost to them because they played into Davidson's hands by NOT pressuring them, letting them play their half court sets, and of course Gibbs going nutso for 34.

Can't let this game come down to the last minute.

Last week, we were doubling Gibbs during the latter part of the game, forcing him to give up the ball. I like that strategy. As good as Aldridge is, Gibbs is the guy who could go off for 35-40 and beat us. Of course, you can't ignore Aldridge, but make somebody other than Gibbs beat us.

Fatigue is an issue with Davidson. Curious to see how it affects them today. It may translate to more-than-usual Jack Gibbs flopping.

Aldridge dropped over 30 vs. La Salle a few days ago. Shutting down BOTH of them is a key to the game.

+1. This is really the only way to break down this game. The other guys for them won't beat us.

Need to be better at defending Gibbs than last week though. There are no excuses for the play he had near the end of regulation hitting the 3, as he was the only one you don't want taking that shot.

While the URI defense and interior play is a big asset, tournament play is different and the big swing factors are often good ball handling and excellent shooting especially FT and outside shooting. Davidson excels at these two aspects and given the hype of this one game, I don't see fatigue as the big issue. One key will be not to let Davidson extend its offense beyond Gibbs and Aldridge, and not allow Magarity and the freshman Gudmundson go off on us, especially on the outside.

We can win this one by keeping our strong assets, denying Davidson the paint, cutting down on TO's, and get some selective outside shooting. And let's keep that fragile psyche that cost us losses to La Salle and Fordham bottled up.

Agreed.

That said you need your legs for outside shooting. Fatigue can be a factor in that.

Along these lines, what's the guess on how long before Stan subs in to check Gibbs? Are we expecting normal substitution rotations today?
