I said Saturday Davidson is fully capable of winning the tournament.

2 super elite players and a great coach.

They run plays for days.....but Dayton might be able to wear them down as we did....

Great stuff!

I am not assuming that. But none of this matters if we don't win today, so it only makes sense to assume a win when talking about tomorrow or Sunday or next week. Doesn't mean I'm actually assuming a win. Just necessary for this conversation.

Time will tell.

Davidson has blown several big 2nd half leads this year, including games vs Dayton and Rhody.

Per our friend Joe Lunardi......."A Dayton loss in the A-10 tournament could indirectly impact Rhode Island's bubble status, as the Rams at-large hopes would benefit far more from a win over the Flyers than Davidson. The flip side is it increases URI's chance to win the automatic bid."

Who cares about freakin Lunardi?

Every team left in this tourney is a tough out for us. Every game we play will go down to the wire. All the remaining teams have great talent.

Let's play!

I think the color woman thinks she gets paid by the word.
Yesterday she referred to the Lasalle coach as,'John Ginonni.

As much as I would rather play Davidson to win the A10 Tournament, we need a UD win on our resume.

Guess it just took Dayton a while to get going...

Hopefully we don't have to play intense pressure D down to the wire, keep our legs somewhat fresh, and get a comfortable win.

Davidson giving Dayton all they can handle helps us immensely no matter who we play if we advance.

Amazing to hit a 3 pointer and get fouled in the final seconds of crunch time in the biggest game of the year.

The arena is Pittsburgh will now have much smaller crowds for the Saturday and Sunday games. The A-10 specifically sited the tournament there mainly to attract Flyers fans and they will get burned by an early exit.

We could have had to play Dayton. A team that has beaten us twice this year and would have had a big, loud home crowd Saturday.
Now we get Davidson who we have defeated twice. They are tough for sure but we have those two wins. Davidson will not have a big crowd at the game tomorrow.
Gives us an easier path to the Championship game, not easy, just easier.
We have defeated VCU, if it ends up being VCU.....never know

I'm not 100% sold that we only had to get to the Championship game even if we beat Dayton tomorrow. I don't trust the selection committee or the whole selection environment.

This makes it a clearer path to the automatic bid.

Having 2 wins over Davidson looks pretty good to a Committee's eyes as well.

I feel like Davidson will be tougher than Dayton. It's very hard to beat a good team 3 times in a row which we had going for us if we played Dayton. Now that edge goes to Davidson. Add in the way Gibbs is playing and the fact that out of the 85 minutes of head to head action with davidson they've out played us for about 60 minutes.

Agree with this. Lets not forget it took two heroic EC Matthews efforts to come back and beat Davidson both times.

If we make it to the Semifinals tomorrow, I'm hoping Gibbs and Aldridge are quite tired after playing a combined 79 of 80 minutes in today's game, and also having played a game yesterday. Otherwise, it could be a loooong day tomorrow.

Agreed. We won at Davidson when Aldridge and Gibbs both had bad games then we barely won at home. If we win today I don't think the Davidson game will be as easy as some on here are thinking.

Agree, we already have two top 25 wins. We need depth of top 100 wins, and this Davidson win today ensures they'll finish the year no matter what with a top 100 RPI. Win today, beat them tomorrow and we're looking at having a record against the top 100 around 9-7. With our RPI, the two top 25 wins, and a winning record against top 100 teams, I think we can get in.
