Is this Mo Alie-Cox's 6th or 7th year?

Seriously -- It seems like he has been at VCU forever. ;)

Gordie's dead, so he doesn't think much these
day.
Same with Tartaglia, BarzinnI, and all the heads of The Five Families.
Mo Alie-Cox is also currently collecting Social Security.
One serious question.
With all the foul problems, why did Akele
play only 2 minutes?

I think Hurley felt VCU was too physical for him and he didn't have a role in that type of game. Hard to tell if he was right from 2 minutes, but at the end of the first half when he was out of bodies, he went with Berry and played zone rather than using Akele, so he must have felt pretty strongly about it.

We won, he was right.

I've been drinking since 20 of 11. I don't really know if he was right, but I'm going to assume.

That was a really good move by Hurley, going to zone. I think Akele would have been pushed around by these guys; VCU was very physical. Kind of makes next year more than a little scary. What I was wondering: is Layssard so bad that he can't even have a role inside against these guys?

He's right up there with Perry Ellis (Kansas) and Peyton Siva (Louisville) as guys who have had a successful 15-year college career...

We've actually had two six year players.
Mike Brown and Cuttino Mobley.
Brown was a transfer, who got a waiver for a final season.
Cat was prop 48,and then red-shirted for an injury in his first
junior season.

Mobley was not here 6 yrs. Prop 48 as a freshman. Played his entire soph yr. 2 games his junior yr & redshirted. Came back for another junior & senior yr. On campus 5 yrs. I think the same is true for Mike Brown. Played his freshman yr in CA. Redshirted then played 3 yrs here.

Add Pat Calathes and Juan Fernandez to the list
Brian Cardinal. His Wikipedia page also contains this delightful bit of "vandalism": Brian Cardinal set a career high 67 points against the Houston Rockets, while only shooting 14 shots from the field. Cardinal also holds the NBA record for charges taken in a quarter (9), charges taken in a game (24), and the highest charges taken per minute (0.9).

Reef - you are correct about Cardinal. I was there in Memphis to see it. I believe it was an OT game.

It was.

Al seemed to be using the same strategy that worked against Glenn Robinson and Purdue four years earlier -- contain the other guys and then worry about Cardinal/Robinson. Cardinal was a better player and had a better supporting cast.

Huh? Robinson was National Player of The Year.
He scored 40 on us.
Cardinal was a role player.
ARD didn't come out to defend the 3 point line,
leaving Cardinal wide open for that 3 pointer.
