how do you figure? there's also been ZERO substantiated reports or statements from Georgetown that Hurley is a candidate, or has been contacted.

Literally the only news has been a bunch of twitter talking heads reaching up their backsides and seeing what sticks to the wall. Its like a slightly retarded game of telephone

I checked with my father who is a pretty big decent sized donor and neither of us got anything.

If they sent this out maybe it was only to donors over a certain evel near NYC and Boston?

I think all of these names are not based on inside knowledge. Most of us on these boards would come up with a similar list without anything more than a general knowledge of college basketball and Georgetown.

Someone I know from Georgetown said that the search is being conducted by their AD and Paul Tagliabue. They have the numbers of all the coaches' agents, and have no reason to go through third parties who would leak info. The reality is the Hurley is probably under consideration, but so are a number of other coaches. The only info he had was that they would like to have an agreement by Friday, before the Final Four.

It's an email trying to get season ticket holders to re-up. It has a pic of Hurley and is written as a thank you from the coaching staff. If he's leaving this would be weird.

Yeah I got that even after I already renewed my tickets.

There was no message from Hurley either. Just a stock photo.

Dick Weiss is a renowned , long time college basketball writer. Be around forever since I was a kid. Well before any of these guys like Goodman or Rothstein. College hoops is his thing, but he is a Philly guy who also wrote for NY Daily New for a while. Not sure if he has any strong DC/ Georgetown connections. And he is old, doesn't seem to get any scoops that I have seen. Jeff Goodman tweeted last week or so that Steve Alford was wrapped of for Indiana, so that's how that goes. This certainly seems to be close to the vest by the powers the be at Georgetown. How about if Bobby got the job, comes back east and Dan stays here

Actually Bobby would be interesting. I would certainly put Dan ahead of him, but maybe Dan isn't interested or is luke warm on it. Bobby offers some similar attributes. Doesn't have the same experience, but does have head coaching experience, got to an NCAA is Buffalo, spent a year at a P5 schools besides playing for an elite coach and program. East coast guy obviously, similar recruiting contacts and same name recognition, actually more so with his playing history. And if by chance the interest was mutual between Gtown and Bobby, would Dan want to potentially kill an opportunity for Bob to come back east and score a big job? Like its been said, money may not be a huge object for him and he doesn't have it bad here and has program in direction he wants.

Was relayed info, i didn't receive it. its an alumni assoc event. Doesn't mean anything per se could have been something that was already scheduled. Will try to find out more.

It sounds like that dick Weiss guy is replying to some guy named bob.

If it's meant to say "Georgetown is looking at Bobby Hurley and possibly Dan Hurley" he could have said it better.

Yes, they were referring to one another by first name, Bob and Dave. There was a period after the name Bob. It could be confusing to read.

Wow! Some of you guys need to get a grip.
The Hoops Weiss tweet was him obviously speaking to someone named Bob,
mentioning someone else and saying Dan was also in the mix.
It had zero to do with Bobby.
I went into Weiss' account. They were talking about Amaker.
He told miximumbob that Hurley was also in the mix.
In other replies, doesn't think Crean is, or Richard Pitino.
Says Georgetown prefers "someone with DC roots".
Not sure how plugged in Weiss is these days.
He was let go by NY Daily News back in 2013.

That was my error, I read it quickly and misinterpreted. I was corrected quickly. Don't think anyone else mentioned.

Hopefully he stays, but whatever is going to happen, let it a happen and everyone can move on. I had read that Georgetown definitely wants this all said and done by Friday. Hopefully it will be done by today.

Also thought that DH extension details would have been done and announced by now......maybe it's just a waiting game.

If Dan gets offered by GT and it's 3 mil or more a year, loyalty aside it's hard to think he'll turn that down.

Guys like Brey and Smart already make in that vicinity so you can see why they would pass......

Looks like it's Amaker's job if he wants it...if not Dan might be next.

It's only Wednesday. Get it done by Friday, then head into the Final Four as one of 32 coaches/programs to win a conference tournament and a game in the NCAAs. That's all positive for Rhode Island basketball.

Interesting read on Dambrot. He is attracted to the A10 because the league gets multiple bids whereas in the MAC it's win the conference tournament or bust with the NCAA

Hey man, even if anyone knew we aren't going to out people here. Many posters on this board are pretty open about their real-life identities, some more than others. Some choose to remain anonymous. We would discourage anyone from revealing (or speculating about) any identity other than their own as a general principle.

Also, it is almost as weird to talk about someone like they aren't here on a message board you know they are reading as it would be in a room where you knew they were standing.
