If we do beat Dayton this has let down written all over it so we need to be aware of that

Hopefully we don't have a repeat of the La Salle game in this one. The team came out flat and gave the worst effort of the Hurley era after losing the last time to Dayton, can't have that again.

The guys can't give up.
Im sure they won't.
Hard to have hope as a fan.
Losing this game would be very ugly.
I can easily see us coming out flat for this one.

You can tell how good we can be after watching us in that game.
We just need that end of game killer instinct and we are the best in this league hands down.

Remember, Fordham beat Davidson at Davidson and beat VCU.
They're erratic, but potentially dangerous.

Good points Rod and Obadiah.

They should get fired up to win these next three going into VCU to give themselves another chance to win a big game. They should be eager to end the woes.
Can't do that by giving up. Giving up you feel worse.
I'm not confident though. I feel like failure is the only thing we will see to end this year.
But if I were on the team I'd still be no holds barred chasing after the goal.
I wonder though if/when we miss the tournament again will Dan get some heat from the media in any type of way. Or will they just continue to give us excuses for our multitudes of failures.

Would anybody really be shocked if we lose this game? Come out uninspired, play down to the opponent, close game at the end, miss some free throws, turn the ball over and lose?

Fordham is another team that we struggle with because of missing FT's at the end, just like against UMass.

You would think we would have our way with them because they like to chuck 3's and have little inside game.....but they do press a lot and give us trouble there.

If we move the ball and go inside we should win easily...but we never do things easy as we all know.

I would be stunned. Team played with (maybe) the best team in the conference the other night and lost it on FT's. There have been other games where they've played well against good competition and lost, but usually for multiple reasons. Yes, they lost by a possession, but they seem to be playing pretty well overall. I'd be very surprised if they didn't thump Fordham (like they're supposed to)...too much talent. Go Rhody.

Fordham always gives us fits. I think we barely win in a quiet Ryan Center. We have to be up 8-10 in the last minute of any game to be comfortable.

At this point in the season, the word "shocked" no longer applies to this team in any regard. The result of the Fordham game is for the most part irrelevant. Yes we want to secure a bye in the A10 tournament, but even with a bye, is this a team that has the physical and mental toughness to win over consecutive days in a pressure situation?

Going to go against the grain here, but...thought the win @ Davidson was great, the win @ UMAss very good and the performance against Dayton also very good. If this team is maturing into any kind of confidence at all...and I think/hope they are...should be a convincing win Wednesday night!

(32)Christion Sengfelder 6'7" 238 F Junior vs 6'7" Hassan Martin
(33)Will Tavares 6'6" 205 G Junior vs Kuran Iverson
(32)Javontae Hawkins 6'5" 211 G Grad Student vs 6 '5" EC Mathews
(36)Antwoine Anderson 6'1" 190 G Junior vs 6'3" Jared Terrell
(40)Joseph Chartouny 6'3" 205 G Soph vs 6'4" Jeff Dowtin

The first number ( ) is the number of minutes played last game vs GMU. Anderson and Hawkins had 4 PFs each so might have played more. Tavares, Sengfelder and Chartouny all had 3 PFs each vs GMU

Tavares has only started 4 times this year but did get the start Saturday vs GMU and played 33 minutes. He played HS at Bishop Hendricken

Could be that Chuba Ohams 6'8" 205 Freshman gets the start and goes against Iverson.

PG Joseph Chartouny is the key guy to slow down. Last game he played all 40 minutes, 8-17 FG, 5-9 on 3's, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals and 3 TOs - pretty full stat sheet. He rebounds well for a PG and is averaging 4.4 rpg. Chartouny was A10 Rookie of the Week 7 times last year.

Yes, I would be shocked if we lost this game.
RPI Live has us favored by 17 points and a 94% probability to win - by far the highest margin of any of the 6 remaining games.

I expect we dominate Fordham in a very lopsided game.

Well, they are a 200+ RPI team. why should this be an issue? beating teams worse than us isn't the issue. Beating teams close to us is. This game is a non starter.

The question raised and addressed was would anyone be shocked if we lost this game to Fordham.

My personal answer is absolutely I would be shocked if we lost this game. We should destroy Fordham at home.

While URI has had some tough losses at Rose Hill, we have had much more success at Ryan and in the history of the building have lost only once to Fordham. We are currently on a seven game win streak at home. Let's keep that going!

The specifics on games played at Ryan for those interested:
2016 W, 79-63
2015 W, 68-65
2014 W, 77-65
2013 No Game
2012 W, 78-58
2011 W, 72-52
2010 W, 101-75
2009 W, 98-67
2008 No Game
2007 L, 62-71
2006 W, 64-59
2005 W, 63-49
2004 W, 68-53
2003 W, 75-63 (Ryan opening season)

Bottom line for this game....if the team still cares and plays with any urgency...they will win the game...if not, then it's a toss up and we know how those go.

I mean not necessarily.
Our bubble hasn't burst yet.
Before we were hoping for a 15-3, 14-4 or maaaaybe a 13-5 finish to make the dance, with those records being accompanied by wins over Dayton and VCU.
If we win out and get to the final then it's very likely we get a bid. Because a semifinal game would likely come against VCU or Dayton. If it's anyone else then it won't move the meter much and we may have to win the whole thing.
Now I don't have much faith we can close out the regular season perfectly so yeah we probably have to win the conference tournament.

The next three games; Fordham, @ George Mason, and @ La Salle will tells lots about the cohesiveness and character of this '16-'17 URI team, essential characteristics in qualifying for the NCAA.

Valpo, PC, Houston, LaSalle, Richmond, and both Dayton losses haven't told you enough?
An NCAA team wins those games. A top-20 team wins those games.
This team is neither of those.

The only thing this Fordham team does well is create turnovers/steal the basketball. This is a terrible match-up for Fordham in that regard as we typically take very good care of the basketball. We should smash these guys and I think we come out hungry and pissed-off.

Imagine if we could get late last season Jarvis back on the court? This team would be a force to be reckoned with. Offensive leadership wanes at times without him.

Dan said last night he's been the fastest player on the court in practice. A combination of him not playing and having fresh legs and fatigue from the other players I'd guess.
