The most Gutsy win in Hurley's tenure.

They won despite several hurdles. This particular team is starting to make me a fan of them. Always a fan of the program but this iteration is really pulling me in.

Great last 10 minutes how bout that f'ing defense!!! That was some shutdown D they played. Dowtin was huge but EC was the difference down the stretch. Is this the win that gets us over the hump? Time for our February run!!! Let's back that win up with a couple more next week!

Solid road win, FINALLY. EC stepped up in a big game. Dowtin rising to the occasion and out playing Gibss, what a confidence builder. D wasn't always great, but think it tired out Gibbs and Alridge and they struggled. Some questionabke calls against us, FT% blew, but not gonna harp on anything tonight. Closed out strong. On to UMASS.

- 70 to 59 win - pinch me I'm dreaming, especially after the first 30 minutes of this game
- Just amazing that we did this on their home court - in a huge game for both teams
- The defense really turned around in the 2nd half - much improved
- And to do this with Terrell and Martin missing a lot of minutes due to fouls trouble
- Dowtin and Mathews stepped up defensively and offensively.
- Great play was when EC drove inside, missed the layup, grabbed the rebound, fought off 2 Davidson guys who were pulling the ball away from him, got the shot off and was fouled. That was a strong, gutty, fierce play that we need to see from EC and can inspire the entire team
- Dowtin held Gibbs to 2-13 shooting, only 4 assists and 3 TOs. He really struggled against Dowtin.
- EC with 21 points and 9 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 huge block and ZERO turnovers
- Dowtin with 19 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 1 steal and only 1 turnover playing just about every minute
- Good minutes from Thompson and Robinson off the bench rebounding, blocking shots and stealing the ball. Valuable guys.
- Martin with some nice passes getting 4 assists to tie Dowtin.
- Terrell with a very efficient shooting night for 11 points getting some questionable foul calls - he played well
- Iverson struggled offensively but wow - 13 big rebounds and only 1 TO
- Imagine what we are capable of when everyone clicks?
- Very clutch win. Got to hand it to the team and the coaching staff. It may be an 11 point win but this was really a close win and ON THE ROAD!

That was a nice change of pace from what we have grown accustomed to. Down by the biggest margin of the game at 51-42 with 11:13 left. Clamped down on D and finished the Wildcats off with a 28-8 run on the road. Would have been even more if this team could shoot free throws. EC and Kuran were a combined 3-12 from the charity stripe.

Hey our FT shooting wasn't bad except for EC and KI...but the rest of their game [EC's scoring, KI's rebounding] more than made up for it...EC is normally much better from the line...not too concerned there.....

Davidson didn't exactly light it up from the line either, and they are normally really good....

Somebody said it....normally our opponents on the road come up big....not tonight because for once, OUR defense dictated the game late, not the opponent's.....

Maybe this is finally the breakthrough we've all been waiting for.

For us, confidence is everything.....

15, I think you're right about this year at least......I doubt JG will be at full strength for a while.....when he does return he'll be a role player giving the other guards a breather....

Next year is next year....we've got a veritable plethora of guards...now go out and get us at least one good ready made big, Dan......

Great team effort tonight. Dowtin coming out party tonight. Ramster saw it coming. Let's keep in mind Davidson is a .500 team in the A-10. But that being said, ball is in our court now as VCU and Dayton have to come to the Ryan Center.

There is no doubtin Jeff Dowtin. Forget the career night on offensive end, the entire key to this game was to hold their two stars below their average. He did that and then some. He forced a few turnovers from him, a few deep bad threes, and in general bothered an All A10 guard for 35 minutes. Also had a beautiful pass to Hass who missed a finger roll which should have been his 5th assist. DH raved about him in preseason, we see why now.

The talk about what happens when JG gets back is silly. JG has been sick, when he gets back he will be eased in. Fazekas at PC had something similar and never played again last year. Dowtin is going to see the court no matter what, but a healthy productive JG would be a good thing.

Dowtin is clearly a combo guard.
Garrett is a far better all around PG.
Easy to knock a kid who's ill and played
through his current condition.
That said, Dowtin was the only Ram who showed up
in the first half.
A needed but ugly win. 14 missed free throws.
Davidson, 16% from 3. Gibbs and Aldrich no shows.
Still a road win against a team with a winning record.

February 3rd ----- HUGE win - and it's February!!!!
On the road at Davidson
Gibbs and Aldrich, the top two scorers in the entire A10 get 12 and 7 points respectively
Down 51-42 with 11 minutes to go and things not looking good at all and then wow.................

URI (6-3) vs Davidson (5-4) at Davidson - you might think we fly home with both teams 6-4, but NO, we win in February in a huge game on the road
I was very worried about this game.

If we can win this we can handle Dayton and VCU at home. This is a huge confidence building win for our players and coaches

This place is funny. I could swear I was reading somewhere on here this morning people shitting on Dowtin, now everyone loves him.

Obviously a great job by Jeff tonight. I can honestly say (and I have the posts to back it up) that I've been high on Dowtin since he first started getting minutes. I still think people who said he isn't a natural PG are right; he'll be better when he moves off the ball. But, for the time being we have plenty of guys who can play off the ball and our need is at the point, and Jeff is acquitting himself well. EC was great tonight, but we don't win this game without Jeff.
