I really hope URI wins this game tomorrow. It would be typical Rhody to reel me back in after beating four cupcake opponents only to drop one to a legit opponent.

Why would you allow yourself to get reeled in with victories in 4 games that everyone knew we would win 2 months ago?
I was fearful we would lose the W & M game when it got down to 4-5 points several times in the 2nd half.
Our defense made the offense often in these 4 games and Dayton will not be near as easy for our defense to lead to offense.
This is pretty much the same team that lost the 4 games just a little more confident and some freshmen and a transfer getting more playing time to show what they can do plus EC getting some needed run time to continue to work out the kinks and get his confidence back.
If you are reeled in then don't let a loss to a very tough Dayton team in a very tough road environment unreel ya

This is where the excuses need to stop.

If we are good as people here think we are, then this is a game we need to win. Period.

Of course if we lose, some will say same old Rhody....especially if it's close and we do stupid shit and give it away.....

This is the time....this will probably be the toughest game we have left in the regular season......

Just. Get. It. Done. No more moral victories...actually at this point, there are none left to be had.

We want to be a no question NCAAT team? We want to end 17 years of misery? It can start here and now.......

Or else same old same old......yes we aren't done if we lose.....but it gets harder to get there....this is a statement game if there ever was one....

I want to win this game. I think we can win this game. But I never like saying you "need" to win a game in which the other team is favored. If we lose the game, the rest of the season will be about fighting our way into the field. If we win it, the rest of the season will be about fighting for our seed in the field.

It's a perception thing TP.

Casual observers will see we're finally legit. It will help put more asses in the seats at the RC going forward.

It means more than just the result of one game.

It means we might actually be deserving of the preseason hype after all.

It will certainly help not only the players confidence, but the coaches as well.....and our confidence in them.

Agree that it would be better, for both basketball and perception reasons, if we win. And nobody will be more ecstatic than me if we do. I'm just not ready to be one of the "win this one or else!" guys yet, mostly because I honestly don't believe that's where we are yet. If we go play a great game and Dayton also plays a great game, I will probably come here and say some wild shit afterwards but the season will go on and I will not have given up.

This team and coach have to prove they can win a close game against a good opponent....and yes they did against Cincy but they have to do it more often.....and against league teams especially now.....

Want to prove you're the best in this league? Do it tomorrow night.

The season is not over if they lose....I know that.....but it would be nice to avoid having to dig out of a hole like we always seem to do......

Archie is very knowledgeable about our team. This video shows that. Dan always shows his depth of knowledge with opposing teams as well. He always mentions their key players by name and their strengths. Belichick is another that comes to mind in this regard. Preparation, knowing your opponent, scouting. It matters. Believe it or not the level of preparation/scouting that teams do in this league varies greatly. URI and Dayton are always well prepared.

let me say that this Dayton team is not as talented or as cohesive as last year's team. Last year
they Had Dyshawn Pierre and Steve Mackelvene which gave them more of a defensive presence
and better control on the boards. The current URI roster is more talented and if they play well and
play loose they should beat this Flyer team. It may come down to effort and belief. They have to
believe they are the better team as they clearly did in the past two games.

If we lose this we have to beat them in February.
Im with TP though, if we continue to show the things we've improved on and play well but still lose I won't be that upset. It'll be a letdown but I won't be ready to give up. Because if we continue to play as great as we are we will steamroll through the rest of the conference and will have a couple more opportunities to get some marquee wins in conference play and in the A-10 tournament.
But yeah, if we get blown out...that won't be good.
Let's just win the damn thing.

This is a huge game because, well, there are few (if any) left. Dayton is less than ten points from being unbeaten. Getting this and Davidson away would put Rhody in the mid seed area. Assuming there isn't an '09-'10 finish.

This is a great thread on game. ramster says the Dayton board is active, but other than the mindless prediction thread - sort of a "coloring by numbers" thread, there is not much insight or thoughts about the game or either team. Is Cooke available to play?

As best I can tell reading their forum, Miller keeps injury updates close to the vest, so we probably won't know if Cooke is playing until about an hour before the game.

Have to continue playing the same offense we have the past two games. I don't expect us to shoot as well but hopefully we still see the same ball movement and less individual play. If Dayton is able to force us to play slow and take shots in the last 5 seconds of the shot clock then we'll struggle.

It had been a while since I've been nervous hours before the game started for an opponent not named PC. Shows how big and exciting this game is. Been talking about it over the past few days like its a Pats game. This is what can come of this season. As DH keeps saying, the goal has not changed, and this game will do a lot to helping achieve that goal.

Yeah I think that's fair and probably the right way to look at this going on. If we play well and do some of the things on offense we saw the last two games but Dayton just happens to play better, then so be it. Let's just not regress. And for sure, would be another opportunity lost no doubt.

Rhody wins this game. Dayton, great program, great coach , great home court and so on, but URI is simply better. I hope the players realize that. A win here will put a swagger in their game going forward that would be a great thing.

One of the best games I've ever seen us play, we lost. It was years ago (I think under Al) when we lost to highly ranked Arizona on National tv. I think we lost by 4 or 6 points. I actually felt pretty good afterwards. That doesn't happen often.
