Worth noting that URI played to the largest ever crowds in the history of the Hall of Fame Tournament at Mohegan Sun (9,323 capacity) this past November. A record-setting attendance number of 18,308 was set for the 2016 Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Over 9,000 fans filled the sold-out venue each day to watch a field of teams that included three nationally ranked programs, Duke (AP Poll #1), Rhode Island (AP Poll #21) and Cincinnati (AP Poll #24). The fourth school was unranked Penn State. The previous best attendance for the tournament was 14,328 (7,815 on Sat and 6,513 on Sun) back in 2014 when the tournament featured Notre Dame and Florida State as well as two local schools PC and UMass.

URI also played to the largest (7,111) non tournament men's basketball attendance there on 01/02/2010 vs Oklahoma State. Rhody has been on the card for three of the top four attended men's college basketball events at the arena. Given these numbers, I would assume it is highly likely that Rhode Island will at some point play games there again in the future.
