This under the basket camera angle has to go. Or at least be used way less.

i wouldnt be. the points arent there yet, but the rest of his game looks good. he is distributing and controlling the offense very well.

on the scoring front, looks like he just needs to get used to when he can look for his offense with EC back. its been 3 halves, he'll figure it out

59 is a lot of points for a half, even if it is against Marist.

Offensively we can do just about anything we want against them.
They are really getting us with that pick and roll. Hart is pretty solid for them. Lots of reach in fouls on us. But man are our guys quick!
Hockey type substitutions keepin us fresh without missing much of a beat.
I'm totally with Adam, can't stand the under the basket angle. It's like I'm seeing the game but missing parts of it because it's from such a limited perspective.

It's Marist but everyone on this team is really good on both sides of the floor, and we hit out free throws!!! Hate the camera under the hoop though. I want to see more Berry in the paint. Would have lived to make it tonight but like people said, Monday night drive to Kingston is rough.

I know its hard to find many faults with a 25 point lead at the half, but our defense is a little concerning. We overplay the ball on every possession which leads to easy looks in the paint and the fouls piling up. Not sure why Hass would ever need to guard outside the paint, but every time he does, it results in an easy pick and roll. Watching Cincy play against Albany, all their starters can put the ball on the floor and beat their man off the dribble, this aggressive style of defense is fine for Dartmouth and Marist but will be exploited by the better teams we play.

cant get any kind of read on the team defense as a whole in these 2 games. they arent out there with the same intensity on D because they know they can dial it down a notch and still get the job done. you're not going to see them taking these chances on steals and getting out of position against the like of Cincy or Duke. they'll lock it down

107 points in the second game should help get the casual fan interested. Lots of scoring options on this team. I'm excited.

107!
Way to go Rhody!
It's just Marist, but we beat them pretty much just as bad as Duke.
Us scoring 107 points alone tells you how much better we are this year.

Agree with sentiment here, we are so overwhelmingly better than them athletically, its tough to deduce much.
Our defense is tenacious but will need more discipline and better rotations against a more talented team, agree with some of what Shinze is saying.

But our offensive abilities are at another level from any of Dan's years, by a lot. We now have what Clark Kellogg calls "spurtability". No more holding a team scoreless for minutes on end and only putting in 2-3 baskets in the meantime and creating no separation.
Now if we get a 2-3 minute stop on D we could go 10-14 points unanswered.
Basketball is a game of runs, we finally have the ability to go on prolonged runs.

One more game to gel further and then it's our first real test.

People will complain about this, but for a weeknight game against a trash opponent that was not included in the season ticket package (I believe), this is not the worst thing ever. We are now averaging about 5100 after two games, if my recall and mental math are right. With a bunch of sellouts on the horizon during conference play and this likely being the floor for the season (hazardous weather aside), I think it is not anything to get worked up about.

It was TOTALLY sick (at least from Sec 208)...there was a TO right after and if they had shown that twice on the screen during that timeout, you'd still being hearing the noise...awesome play....

We have season tix and this game was included. Even my wife agreed during warmups, "those guys look small compared to URI"...and they were. I know there has always been a lot of hype around EC, but dang....bleep the hype, that guy is REALLY (REALLY) good...even better than expected...

Agreed for the most part but 80 percent from the line and 57 percent from three have nothing to do with the discrepancy in athleticism. If this team can shoot the ball efficiently in all phases, they will be unbelievable.

Best EC line ever?

Still E.C.: Maybe the adrenaline of his return accounted for E.C. Matthews not missing a beat in the season opener. Or maybe he's just not going to miss a beat. After shooting 9 of 12 on opening night, Matthews was 8 of 10 for 22 points. Asked if he was surprised, Matthews smiled at the assembled media and said, "I think you guys are the only ones who are surprised."

This was awesome. Things were getting pretty thin in there, and energy was waning but everybody went nuts when that happened. Probably only ~2k people left but sounded like 4k. Very pumped for the crowds this year once we start playing some tougher opponents.

Our defense both giveth and taketh away, which is fine for Marist....

The difference this year, is our ability to score and score often. Will be far fewer long dry spells which plagued Dan's earlier teams....
