Mohegan tickets
Looking to get 13 $10 tickets for Saturday's game. Mohegan site shows nothing available. Anyone know where to get them still? Plenty of seats for Sunday which is bizarre

Re: Mohegan tickets
If ticketmaster doesn't have them I would try calling URI Athletics. Otherwise you might be stuck with StubHub or some other reseller.

Re: Mohegan tickets
Unfortunately it looks like scalpers picked up a lot of tickets and are reselling them on stubhub.

yep, so if you can deal with the uncertainty...you might be able to go there and get 4 for $30...

Re: Mohegan tickets
I would expect both days to be easy sell outs with Duke and URI being in the tourny. I personally wouldn't risk thinking you can just show up and get four tickets together for a decent price.

So I waited it out and scored.......two free tickets to both days of the tournament.....due to my status as a degenerate craps player.....now waiting for a free hotel room to complete the deal.....
I believe the Casino holds back a block of tickets for distribution as perks to their steady gamblers...so those tickets don't show up on the seating chart as open....

Sweet nice score! Wonder what kind of home crowd advantage we'll have for these games. Hope it's huge!

There should be a decided fan advantage on Saturday vs Cincinnati. I don't think however that this will be the case on Sunday if Rhody meets the Blue Devils. Duke has fans everywhere and travels well.

Re: Mohegan tickets
Saturday has already sold out so I agree there will be a huge home court advantage for Rhody. There are plenty of seats available for sunday so I wonder if the casual fans are waiting for URI to win before committing to buy tickets since Duke is a much better draw than Penn State?RF1 wrote:There should be a decided fan advantage on Saturday vs Cincinnati. Sold out from ticketmaster, there's still a ton of tickets available on sites like stubhub. I'm sure we'll have the crowd advantage but no way every seat is filled.jmck wrote:Saturday has already sold out so I agree there will be a huge home court advantage for Rhody. Think about it.....
We don't lose at Mohegan we are in top 10 week two....likely wins over Bearcats and Blue Devils required.
Opportunity to go big!

Duke may have lost incoming frosh Jayson Tatum for some time with a foot injury at their pro day today. They are already expected to be without Harry Giles for this tournament so the probability of an upset just got a little better. Just have to take care of cincyhrstrat57 wrote:Think about it.....

Re: Mohegan tickets
That's it? All we have to do is take care of Cincinnati?
Not to pick on you specifically, but your post is a jumping point for something I've been thinking for awhile. Everyone is so wrapped up in the chance to play Duke, I feel they're losing two thoughts in the process.
1. Beating Cincinnati is a great result. Forget about the chance to play Duke, you just got a win over another back end top 25 team that should be there all the way into March and you're looking at leaving that weekend a top 20 team. Playing Duke is gravy, beating Cincinnati is already a huge prize.
And 2. Beating Cincinnati is going to be really, really hard. We'll probably be a very slight favorite, but let's not act like we should win this game and if we don't then the season is already lost. This isn't playing TCU for the chance to play Maryland last year, this game is a massive test on its own.

I agree with the thoughts on Cincy.....our most important game on the non-con schedule.....followed by the providence college game....lose both those games and our attendance will stay stagnant and we lose any public opinion momentum we have now...

My guess is more money goes on Cincinnati and they will be the favorite. Cincinnati is the preseason pick to win the AAC. I'm just praying for a win against them justntomget the shot at duke.
Agree Cincinnati is the biggest OOC game of the year for us.

My point is I cannot recall another season where such opportunity to leap high in the national polls was possible so early in the season.
Both games will be very difficult but the reward for victory would be our highest ranking in team history. Have we ever been in the top 10? I seem to recall end of season poll result of 12 at end of 88?
I do expect our team to be ready for the test.

Back to Duke for a second, Giles and Tatum are both projected to be top 5 picks in next year's draft. Supposedly they'll know a lot more about Tatum's injury today.

Re: Mohegan tickets
Might as well not even worry about Duke at all. We haven't beaten anybody as good as this cinncinati team in a while. Especially as far as the nonconference goes.
We have to be as good as everybody is projecting us to be, to be able to beat them. So in that game we should really get a feel for how good we are or how good we can be. Yeah it's early and teams improve over the course of a season generally, but if we go in there and get outmatched and blown out, that will not bode well.

Nope no brake pumping for me. Been watching URI hoops more than 5 decades. Someone please tell me how many times we have had such an opportunity.
This is our time for the big time. Name one weakness talent wise our team has. Step up - let's go. My foot is staying on the gas pedal. Agree w ramulous - PC is an absolute must win.
Such an early test schedule !!!! Let's all be ready! Wanna stay in the conversation?

Also another point to add about how tough the cincy game will be is I doubt any of our freshman big men will be ready for that game and probably won't be very effective if they play. It's the fourth game of the season and we don't play that great of competition prior to the cincy game. Hopefully Berry will be able to play some good minutes against cincy otherwise we'll really have to rely on Kuran and Hassan staying out of foul trouble if we expect to win.

We'll also be facing off against Kyle Washington, who I believe we were targeting when he decided to transfer out of NC State.

I didn't say that, if we are as good as everyone is projecting us to be we WILL beat them. I said we have to be as good as people are projecting us to be able to beat them.
But great point about the matchup with the bigs.
Kuran and Hass foul a lot. Hass sometimes struggkes against guy's that are taller than him and Kuran can be overpowered by a lot of bigs.
Akele will sometimes be thrown down low. But he's a stick.
Then we have Berry and Langevine, who seem to be the other two bigs that will get playing time.
Berrys slow and we don't really know about Cyril other than he gave Hass a run for his money in practice a few times.
Cinci has five guys 6'8 and over. http://www.gobearcats.com/sports/m-bask ... sched.html
Definitely our bigs are our biggest question mark, especially against good major conference opponents.
Duke has like 6 players over 6'10....

Langevine is ready to defend at this level. Sticking to my opinion that he is first big off the bench in the first real test (Cindy)
And while we will have to contest with their size they will have to navigate 4 high level guards hopefully creating havoc on both ends of the floor.

Akele.looks stronger to me from what I've seen in pics. But, I also wouldn't call him a big. He's a SF, in my opinion.

Re: Mohegan tickets
A win over Cinci is crucial for this season. If they don't beat the Bearcats, they would likely face Penn State in the next game. A loss to Cinci would mean URI would have no big signature OOC wins. Games vs PSU, PC, Valpo, ODU, Houston, and Belmont are good games but they would not excite the tournament committee. Rhody really has to find some way to beat Cinci to put themselves in a good position. Both teams appear evenly matched. URI will however have a decided home crowd behind them which hopefully puts them over the top.

Re: Mohegan tickets
I hope you're right. I was looking back at Hassan's first few games and the Arizona game he wasn't a factor at all. Cincy will certainly not be as good as that Arizona team but it seems to take big men longer to adjust to the college game so three games before Cincy isn't much preparation.bigappleram wrote:Langevine is ready to defend at this level. Also it will be interesting to see once the season progresses how much our RPI is affected by this tournament. A win against Cincy and even a loss to Duke has to be a pretty big swing vs a loss to Cincy and a win against Penn St.

Absolutely. We want to inherit Duke's W-L record and the record of their opponents as well. The minor change to our own W-L record only weighs as 25% of the RPI calculation.
