Tonight's game is pretty simple:

Defend the 3 well, this will be a win.

If not, this will be a loss.

Imo, CT should start this game. Their guards are quick. Four will get burned often.

KenPom's computer predicts 81% victory for the Rams and a final score of 78-69 with 71 possessions each side.

While Duquesne is often seen as an explosive offensive team, they aren't efficient. In conference play, URI is #8 in offensive efficiency at 1.073pts/poss and Duquesne, ranked #9, is 1.027pts/poss.

Defensively in A10 play, URI is 4th at 1.00pts/poss and the Dukes 7th at 1.06.

Some stand-out stats for each team:
URI is best in the A10 with a 15.1% block rate.
Duquesne is worst in the A10 with giving up 38% 3FG to their opponents.'

Given Rhody is shooting 3s at 38% (3rd best in A10 play), URI may actually have a chance to have one of those good shooting nights. Let's hope so.

Rhody ranks 2nd in A10 play in defending the 3 ball. Duquesne actually shoots below average at 34.8% from 3, but they take LOTS of 3s. In fact 41% of their shots are from 3 land, accounting for 33% of all their points (both rank 3rd highest in A10 play).

I'm going under. I'll say 3462. I don't know what the record low is (not counting NIT and those types of games), but I think it comes close.

Duquesne has the worst three point defense in the conference. This smells like a Four game offensively. He needs to start.

Duquesne had their big man get in foul trouble to, so both sides were going pretty small.

Now own the inside track on 7th place in the conference. One game ahead of Richmond, two games ahead of Duquesne and St Louis, have the tiebreakers over all three. Isn't this season so exciting?

JT, JG, and Hassan went 21-24 from the line, and were great from the field.

Iverson with 10 rebounds.

Watson 3-3.

Needed all of it, because that's all we've got right now.

Never seen a team have so many injuries.

One play Duq knocked Earl down on a pick and then dunked on Akele.

Then 9 minutes later they robbed Four of a charge. I thought it was clearly a charge.

URI won.

As much as the offense has sucked at the end. The defense has been worse because they have had the lead and lost it. Today they kept it, thats good.

I think this year would have been better if Four was a guy that made three point shots as oppose to a guy that CAN make a three point shot. At least that is what I thought when he shot faked and it was wide open and he missed it.

Tough year. Ok win. Is this year the FIRST REAL SET BACK? More so than JH or whoever and whatever. I think this year is the first real adversity he has faced here. Everything else has been more like a hurdle.

JT and JG seem to be maturing. Even though they threw the ball away within a minute. Maybe I am more talking about JT after his postgame interview. Had a much more mature feel to me than his usual.

It looked like we were definitely more aggressive at the end, which was good.

Of course, we were sloppy, which was bad.

Did enough to win, though.

Man, how many offensive rebounds did Duquesne get in that last minute? Seemed like all of the long 3 ball misses came right back to them.

KI and Akele, are FT missing machines. Thank God the others made theirs.

Will we finish the season with 5 healthy scholarship players?

I'm really starting to think that our "remaining" players this year are getting the sh!t beat out of them inordinately...could be problematic, or could be that they are young, and recover well. Something to think about though...

We've basically got 3 really good players and not much else.

KI can be, but he's nowhere near as consistent as our "core 3".

Those 3 will have to stay out of foul trouble and play 35+ minutes a game the rest of the way, for us to win more games.

The thin "Keaney" blue line.......

I was very surprised to see attendance of 5,112 for tonight's game. I had thought it would be in the low 4k range. I think the game being on a Saturday night with excellent weather helped bring them out.

And they left seeing a win against a decent team. Not great in any case, but they were dangerous.

I think we'll go 2-2 the rest of the way. Beat UMass fairly easily and squeak by Fordham, who struggles to win close games also.

Just not enough bodies to do any better.

In NY, maybe they can win 2 games, but the gas tank will be empty at that point.

That quite optimistic scenario would put URI at 19-15 with an RPI of around #94 (used RPi Wizard). This would not get an NIT home game. It would likely not even get an NIT invite. The NIT boat sailed away weeks ago.

If we win 3 of four to close the regular season and the two in the A-10 tournament I think we get in the knit.
Yay winning :)
