The Early Line URI vs Lasalle

Unread post by luke »

The line on this game has finally opened at URI -8. Is Vegas serious?
Have they seen URI without Garrett and Iverson? Expect another loss
If Garrett does not play. Iverson and Garrett listed as questionable.
Vegas has a lot more faith in URI than I do under the circumstances.
This one sounds like a suker bet. Lasalle is getting 8 points at home with
Iverson and Garrett probably out? Are they kidding?

You should bet the house on lasalle then....easy money.

This line is highly suspicious even if Garrett and Iverson play, if I remember correct this was a single digit game at the Ryan Center late in the 2nd half before RI took control. I realize that LaSalle is not a very strong team, but they did beat Dayton at home and we are not exactly playing our best basketball right now, especially on the road.

I wonder what those who say that LaSalle is terrible will say when they win? The refs were terrible. JG had trouble with his mask. Any thing except facing reality.

URI beat LaSalle with Iverson and Garrett back on 01-16-16 in Kingston by a score of 73-62. Rhody had to shoot 57% from the field, 33% from three, and 86% from the FT line to do so.

We were ahead by 16 with about 2 1/2 minutes left. Had the lead for most of the game by about 10-12 points.

Latest line is URI -7. I still will be surprised if URI even wins the game
much less covers a 7 point spread.

Yeah I would jump all over that +7. Even if we do find a way to win it'll probably be close.

We only had a 5 point lead with about 7:00 remaining at home to an undermanned LaSalle team, we also shot 18-21 from the FT line and made 57% from the field (both season highs). We've been an awful road team this year, I guess what I'm saying is I'd take the points if I had to bet this game.

Shinze. If I remember correctly that was after a short rally by LaSalle. We spent most of the game ahead by double digits. I will agree that this time around will be more difficult, but I'm still penciling in a big W. Have Faith.

A close game may not be good. URI is a horrible 3-8 in close games (6 or less point differential).

We stink on the road, its hard to have faith, I think we'll win, but it will be close. In fact, I see this as game we trail for the most part and then make a run in the end. Still, 7 or 8 points on the road is a gift.

They beat mighty Brown in OT on the road. This is probably the best chance for an A-10 road win this year. I do not see this team winning at VCU, Dayton, or Davidson. Games at Fordham have never been easy. If URI does not win today, going winless in league road games might be a very strong possibility.

Faith? Check.

Hope ya feel better Bone; with JG running the point, hopefully, and big nite out of 4, CT, and Hass playing 28 plus minutes, we should be OK, time for 4 to deliver....

Was able to get LaSalle +7.5, feeling cautiously optimistic. I think Rhody wins but I think it is close down the stretch.

Lol!!! Why would any fan bet against their team, it's a no win. Root for your team to struggle?

So yeah, I was way wrong. I would never bet against Rhody anyway, just wouldn't get any joy out of that. But I also didn't think Garrett would be playing. But either way, glad I was so far off . #FearTheMask

My derision is reserved for those who actually placed a bet against Rhody. That is bad. It is not bad to think or fear that we may not cover the line set by Vegas.

I feel that placing a bet and being a fan are mutually exclusive activities and should not necessarily be lumped together. I NEVER want URI to lose and would never bet against them to lose. Sometimes a point spread seems out of whack based on injuries, where the game is played, how teams have been playing, etc.. The LaSalle point spread seemed like one of those times based on the data. I'm glad I dont bet anymore because I would have taken the points last night.

I will never place a bet against a team that I want to win, not ever! And in my book if you place a bet against Rhody, even if you're just betting spread, your betting against, not for...just my opinion.
