Yeah, I don't know about that. First of all, playing at a neutral court is different than being at home, but it also isn't the same as being on the road. Second of all, they have been in every road game in A10 play with a chance to win - that says to me that an incremental improvement could change things. You couple that with maybe a top team locked into a bid playing less than 100% and/or a couple upsets that help our path, and anything is possible. I wouldn't bet my kid's college fund on it, but stranger things have happened. That is why people like sports.
Now you're talkin'.....
RF1 - you also didn't think we would win at LaSalle tonight and thought the point spread was way off. And we get Iverson back. Teamed looked very good tonight. No?

I liked the use of the press tonight. It really seemed to rattle LaSalle.

Garrett is a stud... Best part of the night was CT starting the second half yes he didn't shoot well but he made plays that Four can't make. Great 2nd half.

They looked good against a bad team. Show me something against a good team. I am however relieved that they finally won an A-10 league road game.

Nice half.

JG was great. Hassan, JT too.

Akele, where did that come from?

I swear, this team can look so good at times, and so horrific at other times. By far the best they've played on the road, especially in the 2nd half.

Four will play less and less going forward, I think.

Just nice to win. Would love to see them do that against a good team before this season ends.....

Nice win by the Rams. Should have been comfortable and it was. Let's develop the younger guys and hope for a dark horse Ulmer/Cothran-style run (2007) in the A10 tourney...

At this point a win like this is great for this team... Who cares who we played, we got back to playing our game. I think we steal a big game or 2 vs Dayton x2/VCU/Davidson and set these guys up for great things in the future.

Go Rhody!!!

Well, JG and JT are playing the way we hoped they would earlier in the season.

They are going to be special players their last 2 years here.

Hassan should be energized also, and Akele/CT although inconsistent, show enough flashes as freshmen as to be big contributers next season.

If the newcomers are as advertised, EC comes back strong, and Robinson and KI can help, then maybe, just maybe.......

We play so much better when 4 is out. Yet, he starts every game?
Benching him isn't just playing for the future. It makes us better now. When his shot isn't falling, he offers nothing.
Our bench is short, whether 4 or CT starts. Why not go with the better player?

Well, tonight we had Jarvis. Big difference.

He's coming on like a freight train, and pulling JT with him.

I agree CT should start, but Four still has to play more minutes then optimal.

Who else we got?

When you have no depth, it puts the pressure on everybody who is playing, to play well.

When only 1 or 2 do play well, the rest goes to shit.

Against the better teams, that's what tends to happen to us.

It's all about our depth, or the lack of it.

This team has a few studs. They need more of them, however.

I feel bad for four. Maybe coming off the bench will help him with his shooting. He probably hasn't played this poorly in his career.

He was a good player at the CAA level.

Not so much at the A10 level, however. Especially being asked to try and do too much for his skill level.

I didn't see the game, only read the box score.
Anyone want to tell me Garrett shouldn't start,
or he can't shoot the 3.
Our backcourt is solid and set with Garrett and Terrell,
who has his 4th straight 20 point game.
Looks like Akele was great tonight, and Martin had a good game.
Zero from Four and Thompson, and not much from Earl.
A win is a win.

Yeah, nobody is going to want to play a Rhody team that is 0-7 versus RPI Top 100 opponents, with just 2 wins versus the Top 150...

It's been over a month since URI beat a team with an RPI under 150...

You must be on payroll or something over at the Ryan Center to be so far removed from reality.

Earl struggled tonight, had some rough moments out there. Got 2 fouls in a matter of like 20 seconds and was out of position a few other times.

Akele and Martin both played really well. Martin handled the double team much better tonight. Of course level of competition probably helped, but hopefully he can build on it.

Rod, you would have loved watching Garrett tonight, he was doing it all. He was in total control. Very impressive.

Before the game posters were saying that the Vegas spread of URI by 7 points was a gift. No way URI should be favored by so much, spread should be 3 or closer to even and URI would be fortunate to just win the game.

So score is 29-29 at half then we go off and beat LaSalle by 17.

I'll take it.

Game was close the first half and end tied 29-29

Akele played an amazingly high 35 minutes, (who would have predicted that pre-game?) and looked fluid, confident and took a beautiful pass from Garrett on a break, laid it in, got fouled and hit the foul shot too. Akele was 6-6, hit 2-2 on threes, so,e key rebounds including one impressive offensive rebound and put back.

Big surprise was Thompson getting the start in the 2nd half over McGlynn.
URI went from 29-29 to 4 minutes into the 2nd half URI being up an amazing 31-30 out scoring LaSalle 12-1 to start the half and never looked back. Thompson stayed on for 7 minutes before picking up his 3rd foul and Four subbed for him.

While Thompson did not score he played tough defense, rebounded well and had some key passes. During the 2nd half the offense looked well oiled. Passes were crisp, dribbling was minimal, turnovers low, highlighted by unselfish play. Spacing on the court looked good. While Garrett was fantastic with his career high 28 points, it actually seemed a bit like a quiet 28 because the points seemed to come from the flow of the offense, they came easily. 3 point shooting was slow in the first half, maybe 1-9 but really picked up in 2nd half. 3 point shots were unforced and open due to the excellent, quick, unselfish ball movement.

Interesting that the effective second half where we went from tied to winning by 17 was largely played with 2 freshmen on the floor in Akele and Thompson.

Martin played 35 minutes and avoided foul trouble. Akele 35 minutes. Garrett and Terrell 36,37 minutes

I'd expect to see Thompson start on Tuesday night.

Also, Hurley was subbing Four for Thompson on offense last 4 minutes so he would be in for FTs. Then Thompson would, immediately be subbed in for defense.

Good coaching job by Dan Hurley. Refs rarely mentioned by announcers.

Plus URI hit 10-11 Free Throws.

Career highs for Garrett and Aleke. Also the best games I've ever seen both play. Amazing to see Garretts mask and the fact that the mask did not seem to hinder him at all and did not at ALL make him hesitate from diving the lane into traffic!!!

Could say the opponent was not the strongest but most were saying the 7 points favoring RHODY was way too high. We won by 17 and played well as a team plus won without Iverson who did make the trip to Philly which was a positive indicator.

You could tell from the jump that Martin came out looking to both score the ball and avoid fouling. It was obvious Lasalle tried to go right at Martin when he was on defense to get him in foul trouble and then double him on offense. Great job for him adjusting on both sides of the ball to show he's a great player.

Jarvis' 1st three was normal Jarvis 3 point shooting. Impressive when you consider he was wearing a full on mask.

Whole season be damned the fact they didn't at least split with Joes hurts. It especially hurts when you consider in Phila the difference was 2-3 possessions and the refs set the tone in that game coming out of the half handing fouls basically to everyone on the floor. Then the game at home where they let Joes rape and pillage the Ryan Center. Even more tough is the loss of two players at the end of that home game to Joes because it handicapped URI for Umass.

Just thinking URI could be battling for a top 4 seed right now. Nothing overly special but the season could have a little more life.

Solid game from Martin.
Akele career high
Thompson solid floor game and as usual strong defensively. Gets start in 2nd half. Hopefully starts Tursday night.

George Mason Tuesday night then bring on Dayton Friday night!!!!
I'm pretty sure Thompson started the 2nd half because Four picked up his 3rd foul late in the 1st half.

OK, maybe 'no one will want to play them' is a bit strong..(I did have a good variety of reasonably priced pops on hand last night ;) But, I would imagine there will be plenty of Rhody fans in Brooklyn? Why would people go if they didn't think they 'could' win it? Like another poster said...get a favorable matchup to start...maybe teams with bids solidified play at less than 100% and URI either beats them or doesn't have to play them...anything can happen. And, who wants to miss that? It's what makes sports awesome.

They should be able to beat George Mason...I don't know George and haven't seen him play, but after all, he's just one guy...Then, let's see what happens with Dayton...If they beat Dayton, it's likely fans will storm...and the Brooklyn hype machine will really be ratcheted up.

GO RHODY!

Even though the free throw disparity was 24-11, there were only a couple of calls that I didn't like and never felt that the refs were dictating the outcome of the game, unlike St. Joes and to a lesser degree Umass.

Plenty of Rhody fans in Brooklyn? Please quantify plenty. My guess is there will be many less than last year. If URI can't even get 5k for 10 of its 13 home games, why then would you think a large number of fans will make the long trip to Brooklyn and pay a lot of money (tickets/lodging) to see a Rhody team that has been a major disappointment?

Will you be there?

Yeah, nobody is going to want to play a Rhody team that is 0-7 versus RPI Top 100 opponents, with just 2 wins versus the Top 150...

It's been over a month since URI beat a team with an RPI under 150...

You must be on payroll or something over at the Ryan Center to be so far removed from reality.

You may be on to something regarding the on the payroll comment. I would assume the moniker NYGFan_Section208 refers to the poster being a NY Giants fan that sits in Section 208 at the Ryan Center. Section 208 (in the corner near URI bench) is one of the sections where many URI employees are assigned for season tickets.

No. If the season had gone well and I felt the team had the chance to go deep in the tournament, I would have strongly considered it given my schedule would have allowed for it this year. That is not the case.

LOL....correct...a Giants/Red Sox fan that sits in that section...which...is not usually very full...and I am certainly not getting paid by the U, not sure they could afford me  I just like to roll with the Art of the Possible. Chose that section because I like the corner view (for hockey and basketball, I think the corner view is the best), it's where Rhody shoots in the 2nd half and it's close to the pubicle.

Was just curious, that's all. I have no idea how many will be there...I just think it will be a recognizable, good showing. Do I 'know' that for sure? No...I guess no one does. I just think it will be a healthy contingent that thinks they 'could' pull off something noteworthy.
