A-10 Officials are killing Rhody

Refs play a huge role in all sports. An umpires strike zone. How a ref will spot a football on a run(Alabama probably gains 8/10 yards they are given).

NCAA basketball is always the refs. Always in the league and then in the tournament.

Look at Langston Galloway's career to Shabazz Napier's career. They gave Napier's Uconn the game over St. Joes and then continued inflating their worth.

Thats all it is. You let Joes shoot free throws and travel they get in a confident zone against us. Then you let them hold us and foul to the point they are knocking people out they knew they can't lose.

I am impressed by all the great posts on this subject on this thread.

However what's the bottom line?

What's going to happen? Anything?

Is Dan going to change his ways?

Is the A10 going to do anything?

Are Thorr and Dooley going to do anything?

We all get what's going on, but are powerless to do anything about it.

That's what's so depressing. Is there any way out of this? This could kill our chances to get anywhere next season.

There are going to be some choices, and changes, made somehow. There has to be.

This could get worse before it gets better.

Thorr has got to speak with Dan and DEMAND he tone down his sideline demeanor with regards to the officiating. He then needs to contact the A-10 Office in Newport News, Virginia (???) informing them he has spoken to Hurley and DEMAND they in turn speak to their officials. If the A-10 continues to operate in a rinky dink manner and do nothing, go public challenging the integrity of the officiating and infer the league is in on it.

However, they have to do SOMETHING.

The status quo here is simply unacceptable.

The highest paid person in this equation is the person who is directly responsible with doing what is best for the men's basketball program. If a player was causing any where near this level of officiating backlash, we'd label them a head case. I am a Hurley supporter, but he's failing the program and his players by continuing his theatrics.

The problem is, he doesn't even see it, BFC.

It's all the refs fault according to him. Yes they stink, but he just doesn't get it.

Until he does, or he gets his ass chewed out by Thorr, it will continue.

Brady1 posted the contacts for phone and email for the A10 in another thread. You could McGlade by either or both ways to express your concern. I would not agree that you are powerless to do something but going straight to the A10 would have more of a chance than posting here. I believe that some posters have contacted the A10.

Definitely strange. I would think, if for no other reason, the severity of the two players' injuries would have at least warranted an acknowledgement...but, what do I know?

I have said some negative things on this board after bad losses but I finally realized I need to put things into perspective. These kids came to play for Hurley because of who he is. He was the exact same guy last year just at INTENSE just as HARD on the refs and we won. I am not going to ask my coach to change who he is just because grown men can't handle getting called out about bad calls. If the refs continue to screw us then the league needs to put a stop to it. It is their job not to play favorites or make calls based on emotions if that happens they should be fired. Yes he does flip out the entire game and it may annoy people but it's that tenacity that made us going from a bottom tier A10 team to one of the best for years to come. I know this year sucks but we have had about every goddamn bad luck situation a team can get.. seasons like this happen!!!! If we continue to decline the next couple years I'll lose faith in Hurley but right now he's my coach and I wouldn't want anyone else.
