Of course it is. And you are contributing on multiple fronts! I had two go thru there myself.

What can I say? I'm an optimistic guy and the team seems to have some talent so it's not exactly 'blind' optimism imo.. They may or may not pull it together, I choose to believe they will...until they don't! I think the overall outlook would be much brighter with a couple wins...that would have been different with a couple made buckets (go back to FT's against Valpo). Just because the shots didn't go down in those other games...doesn't mean they won't next time. Make a few hoops and plays down the stretch in Brooklyn and who knows what can happen? No one does, so I prefer to think positive.

I'm not really a critic of Hurley's or a regular 'second-guesser' (although, I agree with those that don't like the end of game slow down or the weave), but, seems like a little defensive pressure when not expected might return some benefit... like, wouldn't this be cool to see?:

The first time the team gets a 6 point lead...without signals or hollering from the bench...but, as soon as they score a bucket that puts them up 6...full court zone trapping D....out of nowhere...even if for just a couple possessions. They've made it work before...and if they could get a couple quick baskets to go up 10, would have the crowd on their feet...then back to their awesome man-to-man.

One thing's for sure, we are good at dispensing coaching advice....

Most of us know our hoops....some of the things we suggest, sometimes show up in games down the road....

Maybe Dan doesn't read this board, but I'm sure people that know him do.....

Anything to help.... :P

This board is a literal Pez dispenser of coaching advice. There may be a gajillion practical reasons not to slap on a few minutes of full court zone press out of the blue...it just seems to have potential, but... that's why I'm a fan, not a coach

PS - My wife asked my son and me if the players and coaches read this board. At the same time, we both said, "I hope not!"

I find the attitude of some of our fans to be amazing. There is nothing particularly exciting about a slightly above-average basketball team, so I get there not being frothing-at-the-mouth enthusiasm for this game or this team. But I also don't get the extreme disappointment some people are expressing.

If you take a very good team and take away their best player, what would you expect to have? Probably an above-average team, right? And how would you expect an above-average team to perform? Probably a few games above .500, probably take care of inferior teams at home, struggle with good teams on the road, and probably have some toss-up games against good teams at home and decent teams on the road. Maybe you lose a head-scratcher at some point, maybe you cancel that out with an upset at some point. But this is where we are. Maybe you think the injury to EC is evidence of a curse, but this isn't the "same old Rhody," or Jim Baron redux or the curse of Jerry D. It is a very good team - probably a top-25, shoo-in tournament team - minus its best player. It looks exactly how logic would tell you it should.

I kind of get having a meltdown during or right after a loss, especially a tough one, but to still be carrying on with the whining days afterwards is ridiculous.

TP its the gift and the curse of the 3-4 days between games. They win and we ride high. They win 3-4 in a row and the tide rises. They lose and for a couple days we are down.

Me? Myself? I love the offseason as a Rhody fan! We rarely lose those!

TP, I find the meltdowns ridiculous and less emotional discussion and analysis about the situation of the team and coaching staff rather sensible fan behavior. To each their own.

Rhody leads 31-22 at the half. Martin is 6-6 from the field. URI is 6-6 from the stripe. Outside shooting off. 1-8 from three.

LaSalle has a short roster and Roberts has three fouls. They only played 6 guys in the first half. They are in really big trouble if fouls add up.

Now this is how you close out an inferior opponent. Nice to see.

Iverson is a nightmare for opponents when he is engaged and not in foul trouble. Especially such a small team like LaSalle.

Blind post here as I haven't read any comments yet, but Iverson is our x-factor in my opinion. We are a different team with him on the floor. I get it was La Salle today, but his offense has come a long way. If he was on the floor more in the Joe's and Bonny games, I say we win at least one of those games. Obviously, we have our other known issues closing out games, but I still liked our chances taking one of them. At any rate, time to look forward to GW. Here's to our first meaningful road win in conference play this year!

Instant Analysis, including this about Iverson.

http://www.independentri.com/rhody_over ... 7eacf.html

Staying on: Iverson was limited to 16 and 18 minutes in the last two games due to foul trouble. He had only two fouls Saturday and played 31 minutes. The result? His third career double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. He also dished out five assists and had four blocks. Clearly, the Rams need him on the floor to be at their best. Hurley on Iverson: "If he focuses his energy on defensive rebounding and plays with maximum effort, he's going to fall into offense. He's a flow player. He's a guy who's got to get his offense in the flow. You could see today he played a tremendous all-around game."

I guess having 2 former 4* top 60 HS players, Hass and Garrett is slightly "above average". Dan better get some recruits in so we don't have "slightly above average" teams.
