Akele: A10 Rookie of the Week 1/4
Re: Akele: A10 Rookie of the Week 1/4
I certainly didn't expect Nicola to be ready enough this year to garner any ROTW awards - good for him! Hopefully he can rack up another one or two before the year is out.

Akele didn't even start a game until this week. Talk about going from 0 to 100 real quick.
Thompson is also more than capable of earning a few of these as well.

Quotes from Dan, Nicola, and Four:

excerpt-
Head coach Dan Hurley
On Nicole Akele: That kid's a winner. He makes winning plays, even beyond the points. He got it started, obviously, by making shots early for us the other day, but it's the things that a lot of times the coaches only study and see - deflections, block-outs, hustle plays, just playing with energy. He's a guy who's just going to keep getting better and better. He's a classy kid. He's like a Mount Rushmore of great kids you'll ever coach, so when good things happen to good people, you get excited.

Re: Akele: A10 Rookie of the Week 1/4
When I saw Akele at the open practice, the talent was obvious. He could probably get a little stronger, but besides that, he's going to be a player. I see him coming in next year with an added 20 lbs. or so of muscle and to be a major contributor.
