Yeah I think that kind of nails it. Also, athletics don't seem to have pushed this or the Rider game as hard as they did American and Valpo... Feels like some of the black clouds hanging over this forum lately have moved in around Kingston too, what with EC loss and subsequent struggles... I would bet that a win over PC could go a long way to fixing that.

He has definitely missed some wide open looks, those are the ones we need him to hit more. But he has also taken some bad shots to, and I think cutting down on those will help in the long run.

Yeah I agree. On another note, Kuran looks better and better every game.

I seriously think this is becoming Iverson's team in a sense. And that's fantastic for everyone. Allows Hassan, Terrell and Garrett settle more into their previously anticipated roles.

Yeah I don't want to put the cart before the horse, but the kid has great raw talent and he seems to be refining it each game that passes I think JT will be ok once he gets his confidence in his shooting back. I did like that fast break he just took.

Things definitely improved, still barely at 50 wth 3 minutes left to play!

Yup second half was a completely different game. We wore them down...eventually athleticism and talent wins out. Can't afford to come out sluggish on Saturday though.

Was the kind of game I thought it would be.

Good 2nd half.

If Terrell could break out of his funk Saturday, this might be closer than a lot of people think.....

People are right about the attendance. Win Sat. and everything will change.

If not, it's going to be a while before we get the numbers that we were anticipating before this season started.

Christion T - some good minutes. Better every time out. Wish he had another game before Sat.
DH - seems a little more reserved than last year, but still spends a lot of game time on the floor.

Don't think I've ever been this disappointed after an 18 point win. Holy Cross had numerous unforced turnovers which lead to points for us, wide open missed shots. We just wore them down with our superior athleticism.

Terrell has regressed tremendously and he shows absolutely no signs of turning it around. Kid cannot hit a shot at all. Is he feeling too much pressure in trying to replace EC? Who knows.

Iverson is the the best player on the team. If he stays out of foul trouble, games like this will hopefully be the norm.

Hassam still doesn't look like himself.

Garrett had the stats, just wish the shooting percentage would get better.

Going to need to play A LOT better to have a chance against PC.

Given quality minutes and PT...could Christion Thompson 'replace' Terrell before the season is over?

Pretty blah win.. but a win is a win I guess.. Hurley stressed lack of energy.. I am guessing from his team and fans... Quiet building tonight.. I think we miss TJ more than we realize.. Always brought the defensive spark and energy off the bench.. Noone filling that role this year.. Defense is not as good.. Four really struggled defensively.. Have to hope Thompson continues to improve and maybe breaks starting lineup.. I think Four is more valuable coming off bench and providing instant offense.. This team needs to win with outstanding aggressive D..

Have to win some quality games to get attendance. Hurley was very frustrated with the lack of energy from the team and said the only good thing that happened tonight was the victory itself. The crowd on Saturday should help.

Attendance tonight was a disappointing 3,442. Average to date is now 4,291. Assuming a sellout on Saturday for PC, the average will rise to 4,852 through the first six home games. This would actually be lower (by 233) than last season at the six game mark as the average was 5,085. Using six games for analysis makes more sense as it would include the PC sellout whereas last year had the game 3 sellout vs Nebraska. This year's opponents through the first six games (with Valpo and PC) actually look better than their counterparts last season (which had non D1 Pace). With the the high expectations for the year and talk of increased advance ticket sales, it surprisingly has not really manifested itself at the gate yet.

RHODE ISLAND HOME ATTENDANCE 2015-16
OPPONENT | ATTENDANCE | TO DATE | AVERAGE
American | 5,089 | 5,089 | 5,089
Valparaiso | 4,881 | 9,970 | 4,985
Cleveland State | 4,721 | 14,691 | 4,897
Rider | 3,320 | 18,011 | 4,503
Holy Cross | 3,442 | 21,453 | 4,291
Providence | 7,657 | 29,110 | 4,852 * assuming sellout

RHODE ISLAND HOME ATTENDANCE 2014-15
OPPONENT | ATTENDANCE | TO DATE | AVERAGE
Pace | 4,210 | 4,210 | 4,210
UMass-Lowell | 4,320 | 8,530 | 4,265
Nebraska | 7,657 | 16,187 | 5,396
Delaware St | 4,613 | 20,800 | 5,200
Detroit | 4,694 | 25,494 | 5,099

He shouldn't have been. I was watching dan and he absolutely deserved that tech. He was lucky to get the warning and once it happened he was visibly carrying on shaking his head arguing it. I have never seen a team act so surprised to so many obvious foul calls. There was one play on the wing where Jarvis obviously hand checked the guy and everyone is flipping out like the whole arena didn't see it. It is hard to be taken seriously when u argue everything.

Kuran played fantastic tonight. Not only on offense where he dominated but I was impressed with his hustle on defense and getting loose balls. He was all over the place. Played like he was on a mission I was impressed.

They have the same record right now heading into the PC game that there is a pretty decent chance they would still have with EC. Good test on Saturday.

The tech on URI was on the bench, rather than against Hurley specifically. At least that's what I heard. It was because Coach Cox was standing outside the box immediately following the warning. Technically, only the head coach is permitted to stand on the sidelines. Cox was animated all game, as this was one of his scouts and he was sitting in the big boy chair at the end of the row.

As for techs, the URI bench got only a "Class B" technical and Cross was awarded ONE free throw. Ever heard of that? Nobody in my area of 205 had.

I am really liking Christian Thompson. He is starting to go to the hoop hard on a number of occasions. I think in a few games, people will be pleasantly suprised with his improvment. Patch up the defense and he will be okay.

At the time of the tech call, coach Cox was up , appeared to partially on floor, partially out of coaches box shouting instructions to players. Apparently the bench was warned prior to this. Both Dan and coach Cox appeared to be both coaching players not complaining. Neva heard of the class B tech. I do think sometimes the spill over effect of Dan's bench behavior results in quick whistle after a warning. The position/seat for the scout coach seat makes it an easy target for refs, this often is the case as the no chair for Dan......this is how they roll, and probably is not gonna change, there is a lot of verbal interaction between Dan and the scout coach and much defensive instruction by the scout coach....

KIverson played an awesome game.

He makes me nervous after he scores and he kind of celebrates as he chases the inbounder because thats his responsibility.

How much smoother in the open court with the ball does he seem? Wow.

I don't want him to pick up any foolish fouls or get that kind of attention in the PC game for clapping in someones face on accident.

They didn't win a road conference game all year & won 4 in a row in the conference tournament. Exciting games. Teams could not figure out how to beat the 1-3-1. My wife is an HC alum so she is especially happy. She was screaming at the TV on those last 4 three point attempts to tie the game by Lehigh.

We haven't gone to the NCAA since '99, and HC until now hadn't gone since 2007, but the question is would you trade places with HC? Answering that question brings to the forefront a clearer definition of success at the URI/A-10 level as opposed to the Patriot level.

Sure making the dance is great and its the ultimate goal, but no way in hell would I enjoy watching the Patriot rather than the A10.

I don't even think "Good for HC"
I think who cares
The Patriot League is bad

Lehigh was in 1st place with RPI of 156!!!!
Lehigh went 1-9 in OOC
Lehigh finished with a 16-14 record overall

Holy Cross was next to last in Patriot with RPI of 264!!!
Holy Cross went 5-6 OOC and 13-19 overall. They were 8-13 in the Patriot League

This is an example of why the NCAA and P5 Conferences will ultimately make it so this kind of thing cannot happen.

I agree with everything else you said, except this. I think Holy Cross getting in is actually the exact reason why the NCAA tournament will never change. It is what the vast majority of people watch it for - the times a team like Holy Cross knocks a blue blood #2 or #3 seed out of the tournament. Without the chance of that happening, the tournament would be worth about half as much to the television networks that bid on it. (Not to mention, those top teams have a much better statistical chance of avoiding early upsets against small league teams than they would against mediocre P5 teams - instead of playing a team with a RPI of 175, you'd be playing a team with a RPI of 60. Big difference.)

I like Holy Cross a lot and I've said many times here on the forums that I would love it if they upgraded their basketball program. My dad was a huge HC fan when Heinson and Cousy were were crushing everyone. The 78 team with Perry and Vincennes that we beat was the last great HC team. HC in the Patriot league is tragic in my view.

This Patriot League champion has zero chance of a first round NCAA win.

I'll watch and root for them and love it if I am wrong...

I think I have a purple shirt around somewhere!

I have nothing against Holy Cross. I think it seems we all know somebody who went there.

But Holy Cross winning the Patriot tourney is the exact reason why I think post-season conference tournaments are completely asinine. 2 months of meaningful conference basketball games all down the drain.

I see where the Ivy League will be doing a 4-team tourney next. Why???!!! What does it prove?

It makes it exciting though, and its the reason why as URI fans we're still rooting for our team to win 4 in 4 days in Brooklyn.

I thoroughly enjoy these tournaments

IF WE HAPPEN TO WIN A FEW GAMES IN THE A-10 TOURNEY,WINS LIKE HC AND OTHER UPSETS IN THE LESSER CONFERENCES DIMINISH THE CHANCE OF RHODY GETTING A BID TO THE NIT;CONFERENCE WINNERS GET AN AUTOMATIC TO THE NIT IF THEY LOSE THEIRTOURNAMENT;I'VE NOTICED QUITE A FEW ALREADY
