Thanks Obadiah, wish it could have been a bigger number. I am usually an
optimist, so predicting the lowest number is kind of out of character for me.
but I guess I saw it coming with the loss of EC. anyway thanks and I hope
you got my email.

For those of you scoring at home, the men's basketball team averaged less fans per game than the football team.
4718 for basketball; 4753 for football

Of course one of those teams plays five home games, all on a Saturday afternoon. That's supposed to be a big help with attendance.

Yeah, outside in weather that could be beautiful, horrible, or in-between. Against teams that aren't exactly URI's traditional (Yankee Conference) rivals. Plus, the team....
Then again, "HOPE" is the State's motto. ("Hopeless Dining Hall" doesn't qualify!)

I personally think we did OK attendance wise post EC injury, of course games like Rider would be low and PC, St. Joes ect to be higher. I think the fan base knows we'll be good next season without the ridiculous "hype monster" that was last preseason. I can't friggen wait.

Football does well because its outside, it gives you a pure "college" feel. Plus the school does a good job mixing in other events on homecoming, parents day ect. Tailgating which is growing, also helps.

The A-10, in its infinite wisdom will hold three consecutive men's basketball tournaments in the cities (2016-NYC, 2017-Pittsburgh, and 2018-DC) that are home to three of the four league teams with the lowest average home attendance (Fordham, Duquesne, and GW).

DC may do well with the number of schools nearby, especially VCU. I have strong doubts about Pittsburgh. Duquesne for the most part has no fan base. I think the league sited the tournament there for Dayton with the hope their rabid fans will show. UD however is still 250 miles away. I don't know if they will come out in the numbers needed to make up for the lack of fans from many other programs.

One who knew little about the A-10 might interpret that the tournament was held three straight years in cities home to the lowest attendance members of the A-10 as a nod to helping these teams garner more PR and increase their attendance. People knowledgeable about the league however know the conference could care less about its lower tier teams. It has always been about acting for the benefit of its high profile more successful teams. In this case Pittsburgh and DC were really picked to benefit Dayton and VCU.

All the games I watched in Brooklyn had a lot of empty seats. Not sure it matters where they play. It's all set regardless, no changing anything.

Didn't know where else to put this, but some interesting numbers here, especially as it relates to both the A-10 and local college hoops:
