Why is it that the college we attended is listed in so many ways? I have seen URI, Rhode Island, RI, U. of RI., Rhode Isl, etc... on the ticker for ESPN and other sports channels?

Tonight on ESPN it = 'Rhode Isl' (lazy? Can't spell 'Island'? Geesh?)

Always bothered me there is zero consistency. They have been doing it for as long as ESPN has been around.

Oh, and Digger & other broadcasters... It is Rhode Island... NOT ROLL Island.

They do, but this is a marketing thing that we can and should do better to control. We should be "URI" always. Always.

I don't agree that we should be listed as URI everywhere always on TV.

For example, I prefer Rhode Island on the time/score overlay during our games.
I also prefer the full Rhode Island on the ticker, space allowing.

Tomorrow, we will be shown as URI on the score overlay due to limited space.

I guess my position is Rhode Island if it can be presented in full. "Rhode Isl" is unacceptable.
URI is the substitution in the event Rhode Island cannot be displayed in full.

Yeah I actually agree that Rhode Island is good, I was kind of thinking in the event we are abbreviated in some way.
