ESPN Marathon Tip-Off Schedule

Unread post by Obadiah »

OK, we have a big game on Tuesday. Yea, it's a basketball game, but it's also "showtime". Have a great team, have a big enthusiastic crowd, have students in the forefront, painted faces and all and you get invited back to the ESPN marathon, maybe in a better time slot.

We need not only the students to come out, but we need some animation from the non student crowd. GO RHODY!!

Here is the schedule for the Marathon which actually begins today.

I had thought Ryan Center attendance records would likely be broken this season. Based on the numbers for the opener and the loss of EC for the remainder of the season, I no longer believe we will top the average attendance of 5,915 set in 2007-08. I was very underwhelmed and disappointed in the turnout for American (5,089). With the news that full season and package ticket sales were up along with the prospect of the best season since 1999, I would have thought more would have shown up for the opener. If not for a very large and boisterous student turnout, the numbers would have been much worse. The loss of EC has taken the wind out of the sails for this season. I fear that his absence will adversely affect the w/l record needed to build the momentum that would be required to top 6k for average attendance. The preseason sale of tickets will insure decent numbers but I don't think we will see any record this year.

Go GW! I'll be watching that game, didn't even realize they were playing Virginia. Will make our win over them in conference play even better.
