sorry, but if EC is gone for any extended period of time, you cant realistically keep the same expectations for the season, he's that good and that important to the team.
Yea, I'm all about optimism, but ignoring his value to the team along with the expectations, silly. We're not the same team without EC, don't be fooled by tonight's blowout.

Don't jump to conclusions.
Didn't need EC to win this game.
Easily could just be the staff being overly-cautious...stay positive for now!

The one thing that could screw this season up, a major injury.

Let's hope it's only a sprain.

He had to be carried off the court. I hope I am dead wrong, but it's not good.

It's not good. Not at all.

On top of that, EC's the best FT shooter on the team, except for Four.

13-31. Isn't that what we shot against Davidson last year? Pathetic.

Hassan and Earl are terrible from the line. Hopefully Iverson gets better at them.

The only silver lining, if there is one, is if EC misses the season, he'll be back next year for sure....hopefully as good as ever. With 2 years eligibility left.

Still, this blows, big time.

This will still be a good team without EC.

An NCAA tourney team? No.

They deserve better. The program deserves better.

It's like they are cursed.....why us

And yes, what happened in Paris makes everything else seem trivial, but it's not...

this world is one fucked up place. I fear for my children and grandchildren....the human race is hell bent on destroying itself....sorry for the OT

Much tougher schedule this year to. It's going to be tough, I guess it just depends on the progression of Terrell and Garrett and how Iverson develops here. Four looked good off the bench at least.

Rod reminded me that Terrell won National Freshman of the week when EC was out for a week last season. So there's that.

Even with all that, EC just does so many things that it will be impossible to fully replace him.

The only thing is that we might actually be better on defense, but that depends on the new guys.

EC shoots FT's well, and he rebounds. Not just scoring.

We're going to go back to depending on defense more, since scoring will take a hit.

Just great. More low scoring games, poor FT shooting [again].

And less depth.

Sucks.

I see something similar to last year too. Flashes of really good basketball, flashes of really sloppy basketball, and slightly above avg basketball taking the majority. I do agree that we have talent on this team outside of EC, but it will take time for the guys to learn to run an offense effectively without him. He was the leader, go-to guy. Leading scorer and commanded defensive attention. It's not going to be easy for the team to reset the offense without him.

All in all, each game will likely be a grind.

Feel awful for EC and the whole program. Kid has worked his ass off and was ready to turn into a household name.

0% chance we're an NCAA team without him, NIT is even a stretch.

This is just bad, bad, bad.

I get it, eventually the coaches will rally the team and they'll get after it with whoever they have. But right now, I couldn't care less about the basketball part of this.

and down goes Wisconsin at home to Western Illinois. Wow!

Rhody is 1-0. I'd rather be URI right now. Maybe this situation propels the rest of the team to progress at an accelerated rate. Short term might not be good. Long term = ??

There will be the need for multiple players to raise their level of offensive output. I see more sets to get Four more three attempts, more room given for Iverson to create from the perimeter. We can weather this loss of EC, for who knows how long......more time for others off the bench, let's see what the coaches come up with......make more free throws will help......

Four can shoot it way better than what we've had, that's for sure.

Unfortunately, better teams will find a way to slow him down without the threat of EC on offense.

Terrell and Garrett will have to shoot it more, and hopefully their shooting has improved enough.

Terrell does look like he might.....

Still, the core 4 minus EC, plus Iverson, look pretty good. This will give Thompson and Akele more minutes too, and help them develop more quickly than they would have otherwise.

Just wish our bigs could shoot FT's. Please.

I am not a doctor, and have no information on EC's injury. I can only give you my opinion. A non contact knee injury, that drops you like you were shot all adds up to at least an ACL. Maybe also MCL. Hope I am wrong, but I don't think we will see him until this time next year.

I don't think we're going totally back to those kind of games....

Just hope our returning players plus the newbies equal better offense.

Our shooting will be OK, I think. FT shooting, well that's a horse of a different color......

We still have the type of players and enough depth to play relatively uptempo, imo.

Hurley Show, sadly I think you're right. Let's just hope it's not both.

Devastated. I was in section 213, so I got a really good look at it. After the spin move the knee just buckled. Non contact injury. It looked bad. To go from pure excitement to devastation within seconds. Sick to my stomach.

not to be a Debbie downer, but not much good from this game win notwithstanding. I would be shocked if EC not done for the year... He was in severe pain and unable to put any weight on the leg at all.. Also, don't know if anyone else has noticed, but Terrell has had a problem in both games with what hopefully is just cramps.. He has received a lot of medical attention in both games... Oh yeah they are abysmal at shooting FT's.. Even Four missed a couple.. Kind of bummed. You like to buy into the hype, but the loss of one player may make us sing wait til next year.. At least a lot of kids at the game, but not many other people.. Where is the support??

All my unbridled excitement for this season disappeared when EC went down. If he is out for any length of time, it is a devastating blow. It reminded me of Tom Brady's knee injury in game 1 against the Kansas City Chiefs back in 2008.

As good as EC is the team is going to still be better than last year. Three point shooter, point guard one year older, iverson opens things up, terrell one year better, hassans team now, earl not fouling out in three minutes, three newcomers that looked good considering it was their first game....the valpo game will be the barometer...hope it is not as bad as it looked
