Opening the 2015-16 Prediction Contest

URI begins its 112th basketball season on Friday, November 13 versus American University and the game triggers the launching of the eighth Annual Prediction Contest.

(After some consideration, I decided not to make any changes to this year's contest.)

MAIN PRIZE

The winner of overall contest will receive a $100 gift certificate to Mews Tavern.

BONUS PRIZE

A bonus prize of a $50 gift certificate to Mews Tavern will be awarded to the participant who comes closest to predicting the Rams’ average home attendance in the regular season.

If a participant gets all five components exactly correct, the prize award doubles and the winner will receive a $300 cash prize rather than Mews gift cards.

PREDICTION COMPONENTS:

Each participant will make a prediction composed of five parts.

1. Regular Season Record (based on 31 games)
2. A-10 Conference record (based on 18 games)
3. Team Scoring Average, ppg (to one decimal, based on 31 games).
4. Top Scorer & Scoring Average, ppg (to one decimal, based on 31 games)
5. Average Home Attendance, regular season only (17 games - 9 conference, 8 OOC)

The contest is based on predicting the overall regular season record, so the other four components of bet are essentially tiebreakers and will be used to determine the winner according to the above sequence. To move successfully through sequence requires either predicting the actual result or coming closest to the actual result.

Please note a small change this year to make the contest as competitive as long as possible, identical bets will be accepted in each of the first four components, but not the attendance category. Any participant making an identical prediction in the attendance category will be asked to re-submit.

DEADLINE

The deadline for submitting a prediction is Friday, November 13, Noon.

OTHER GUIDELINES

• This thread is home where all predictions must be submitted.
• The contest is only open to bona fide URI fans and those meeting that qualification must have registered on this forum before September 1, 2015.
• Please monitor your private messages soon after you place your prediction, so if there is any problem or duplication with your bet, you will be notified via PM to take corrective action.

Oops, forgot one other aspect of contest prizes. If a poster gets all five components exactly correct, thereby winning both the $100 Mews gift and bonus prize of $50 Mews gift, the prize amount doubles and the winner will get a $300 cash award. I will amend the original announcement to reflect that detail.

Thanks haha, i wanted to differentiate from EC but it was tough picking between Iverson, Terrell, and Garrett. I figure Garrett will consistently see the most time on the court and already has proven to be a good creator and 3pt shooter so i'm rolling with him
