Too bad it's reserved for the select few, yet I know it's a perk.
However, Rhody Football hosts Delaware at noon, its "Youth Day" promotion….Wouldn't it be smart, practical and advantageous to get as many people into the Ryan Center as possible after the football game is over? Have those who weathered a probable Rhody bummer leave the campus on a high note?
PERHAPS, even entice some of the crowd to become season-ticket holders who can hold their heads high because they'll be supporting a winning program led by a dynamic coach with a group of talented, loyal players???????
Maybe the players would appreciate students and the general public at-large in greater numbers to watch them, never mind it being "Youth Day," which would be ideal to reinforce the "Rhody Brand" on the impressionable.
Kids latch on to a favorite player no matter what and love to bug their parents to take them to a game or two even if the household can't afford it.
Common sense, please….

If I had to make a guess, I'd say 10 a.m. Can't imagine it being after the football game. I hoping it's in the morning. It would get me in shape for Valpo.

Did everyone receive their season tickets in the mail yet? Mine haven't come in - figured I'd check here before calling the box office.

Bottom line is I would bet they turn nobody away. They would like to communicate that there is a benefit to donating or subscribing to season tix, but there's no way they say, "Papers, please!" at the door.

I like the promotion cross tie with Chick-fil-A.....a well noted conservative Christian run company as many know....they won't even open on Sundays.....cannot see a explicit lyric hip hop artist tied into this event with that in mind.....so maybe it is ABBA.....

I am not a fan of Chick-fil-A and am disappointed with URI being affliated with them. Their CEO has a history of anti-gay comments and made strong comments against same sex marriage this padt year. His wife (through the company) made millions of dollars of donations to anti-gay groups.

There have been resistance from some colleges to allow Chick-fil-A restaurants on campus.

Not that it matters in respect to the thread, but not sure Dan Cathy made strong comments against same sex marriage as much as he made strong comments for his religion. IMO there is a difference, though this probably isn't the place to discuss.

I personally think it's great that Chick-fil-A is sponsoring this event.

I agree it probably isn't the place to discuss.

Here is what I was referencing from article:
Though he now wants to shift his efforts away from political discourse, he was eager to add his two cents last June when the Supreme Court struck down the Defense of Marriage Act, tweeting, "Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies." He eventually deleted the tweet.

I read that as a strong comment against same sex marriage.

Their strident views certainly hurt their brand... I don't agree with them...but they have the right to do so and risk losing market share because I believe it is still family run.... I may be wrong....if it goes to stockholder driven they will have to moderate and eliminate their current views.
