European Basketball --URI

Unread post by McRam »

It looks as if there are currently 9 players for this season that have URI connections on European Rosters this year.

Lamonte Ulmer-Germany

Levan Shegelia- Georgia

Kaheem Seawright Turkey

Dawan Robinson Italy

Nikola Malsevic Serbia

Gil Lithuania

Jimmy Belgium
Billy Belgium

The last one, I frankly do not remember--

Lisandro Ruiz Moreno Argentina- did he play for us

In 2015 the list

Keith Cothran Canada

Will Daniels Puerto Rico

Ben Eaves England

Darrell Harris Greece

Delroy Italy

Steve Meija Dominican Republic

Marcel Monplasir Portugal

Lisandro Ruiz Moreno was recruited by Baron, I believe, and committed, but never played. I'm not sure if it was an academics issue or a clearinghouse thing.

Never did. Was here and sat in street clothes for a year, but never played, I believe because he played on some pro team in his country or something.

There are great opportunities in Europe now. When I was in school in the 1970s, playing in Europe was still new terrain. I'm sure these league differ in quality and pay but the opportunities are many.

Grantland has had some really good articles the past couple weeks on the life of pro players in Russia, China and other parts of Europe. Here's their most recent one: http://grantland.com/features/jon-solom ... l-players/

Here's one with a couple ex-players in Moscow: http://grantland.com/features/euroleagu ... s-nichols/
