Wow, we only have one marquee conference home game, Dayton. Would have liked to see the schedule makers give us at least GW, Davidson, or VCU home and away.

Seems about right, given that its likely semi-regional. Philly teams, Fordham, UMass, and Dayton as the outlier. Dayton is probably the best choice for our home/away pairing of the teams outside our region - they should perform well in conference this year and two games against them will help.

Nice. Obviously St Joes, La Salle, UMASS, and Fordham are yearly locks. But we got the best possible 5th H/H we possibly could.

So essentially we swap out St. Louis as one of our five home and homes from last year, swap in Dayton, we get St. Louis as a home game probably because we played Dayton on the road last year, and all of our opponents we play only once flip home and away from what they were last year.

By the way, I'm surprised it took this long to announce the pairings. Last year the pairings were announced on May 8th, and that was adding in Davidson and kind of redoing the conference schedule. Other schedule dates from last year were August 27th when we got the dates for the A10 games and September 18th when our full schedule was released.

A Dayton double!
Hell yes.
Let's dominate them again.
Hopefully they'll have our home game against them on ESPN!

Eh….Doesn't help the SOS by not playing the best teams in the conference twice.

Well four of the teams are locked in year over year based on geography, so getting Dayton as the 5th team was as good as we were going to do. Last year it was SLU and that did hurt our SOS. In other years playing SLU twice would have been fine.

Yeah this basically worked out about as well as it could have within the predetermined schedule constraints.

On the flip side, going on the road to all of them will. Going to VCU, Davidson, Dayton will be a huge potential RPI maker.

That's what happens when leagues get so big they can't play double round-robin.

I'm not a huge fan of the conference schedule this year... Only one conference home game against a good team...

Too bad...

In that case, URI will have to play the "good" teams on the road and if they beat them, that's much better for the RPI and potential seeding...if they prove to be good enough for an NCAA bid.

So hopefully by Selection Sunday, you'll be saying "I'm glad URI had a pretty tough schedule. Those quality road wins are what got them an at-large bid."

Look big picture.

Agreed. If they win those hard road games, then that is a MASSIVE RPI booster. But, if they lose them, then nothing gained other then strength of schedule boost.

Also, say that Rhody played against, for example, Davidson at home and away, they are more likely to beat them at home. Not having the opportunity to play them at home greatly decreases the likeliness of a win verses that team. I would personally like to have crucial games played on the home court, rather than at the other team's house.

More importantly, big home games are a blast to watch.

This will impact home attendance to some degree, even if we are winning and even ranked.

People want to see games against good teams, not the dregs of the league.

Especially a lot of our casual fans.

I think people are going to want to see this team regardless of who we are playing this year.

Honestly, if URI becomes a top-25 program people will come out to the games. People want to see a legitimate winner. It won't matter if they're hosting Duquesne or Davidson.

(BillyBoy...don't be selfish now. Didn't your momma teach you that? Didn't your coaches teach you to be a team player?)

Anyone have an idea when the actual schedule comes out? I really hope they don't kill is by having the Dayton game during winter break. The atmosphere vs Nebraska was special with the students there! The VCU game had a good turnout but not the same atmosphere at all!

Playing Dayton during Winter Break would be awful. Gotta have the students on campus.
