How would you rate the 2015-2016 Recruiting Class?

Unread post by ramster »

Now that we are complete with the roster full how would you rate the results? Much discussion has been had about each of these 7 individual players but overall, big picture, how would you rate this class? Consider that this included the release of Biggie, Jarelle and Matt to create space on the roster as well - a move by Dan Hurley that allowed the addition of 3 of these guys.

Roster Additions this Year:
1-Kuran Iverson 6'9" SF/SG
2-Andre Berry 6'8" PF
3-Leroy Butts 6'7" PF
4-Nicola Akele 6'7" SF
5-Christion Thompson 6'4" SG
6-Four McGlynn 6'2" G
7-Stanford Robinson 6'4" SG (eligible to practice with team, play 2016-2017)

Iverson is a SG/SF, not a PF.

Fixed it for Ramster - ATP

I took the classifications for each player directly from the URI Recruiting Pages inthe Recruiting Section:
ESPN: 4-star; 89 rating; #7 PF Nat'l

The Keaney Blue Title lists him as a Forward.: '13 CT F Kuran Iverson (URI Commit)

In looking further back to see what they considered Iverson as Memphis I found this where he said he wanted to play Point Guard at Memphis:
If that answer wasn’t bold enough, when asked if he though Memphis’ 2013 class was better than Kentucky’s class, Iverson did anything but hold back.
“Yeah, way better. Way better. They talented, we work hard.”
In Iverson’s defense, what do you expect him to say when asked a question like that? And, if you continue to read past the recruiting class trash talk, Iverson goes on to show that he is a confident basketball player to say the least. The versatile small forward, who committed to Memphis in September, told SNY that he would’ve liked to play point guard next season if it wasn’t for Joe Jackson returning.

So one could say he is a PF, F, SF, SG or PG
Will be interesting for sure to see where he ultimately finds his role at URI.

I'd be willing to bet that Iverson plays a majority of the season as a stretch 4 and spends a little bit of time as a 3. But with our guard depth, I doubt that he will see much, if any time, as a 2

No offense intended, Ramster, but the recruiting class is complete, with or without the coveted big man or any other bag name targets the staff missed out on….

It might be better to conduct this poll next March/April.

But where's the fun in that?!? :P I mean, Mel Kiper has made his entire career on kneejerk analysis. I don't really get it, but tons of people gobble this "instant analysis!" stuff up.

The "sleeper" in this recruiting class is Christion Thompson. He is a hard-working, multi-skilled young player, similar to TJ Buchanan, but with more talent.

Dan told me that Thompson was a bigger version
of Xavier Munford.
Hope he's right. That would be great!

Iverson told me he thinks he'll get his appeal won.
We'll see. The NCAA is very erratic on their timetable for appeals.

What exactly is the basis of Iverson"s appeal?

His scholarship was pulled by Memphis,
so he's technically not a transfer.
Several players got this appeal in their favor last season,
and didn't have to sit out any time.
Having Iverson available from day one, would be a big boost.

Yeah it often seems like it takes a month or so for most mid year transfers to get goin after they start playing with the team.

Having Iverson eligible day one would be absolutely huge. That said, while I hope for the best, I am just going in assuming he won't win the appeal. These NCAA decisions seem to have no rhyme or reason to them.
