Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
So the Four McGlynn move looks good as a one year replacement for Butler and now we could probably use a PG to back up Garrett. Pretty surprised about Biggie moving on.

Indeed. All three played a part in what has become a rebirth of championship level basketball at Rhode Island.ace wrote:Thanks for your time, guys.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
All great kids and wish them luck in the future. The Biggie transfer has me a little surprised as well. Although, with the abundance of guards we have this was somewhat expected.
Maybe this means there is another big man in the works?? Interested to see what they do with these 3 openings.

Biggie hurts. turned himself into a solid backup as the year went on.

Regarding Iffy- remember that his overall eligibility situation, especially with the inconsistencies of the NCAA, is not completely certain.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
Shocked at Biggie. He clearly had a defined role here.
Reischel, no loss. Weak with the ball, and bad decision maker.
I though Oneykaba would be numero uno to go.
Wow!
OK, lots of room for .........guess what?
Oh, now we need a backup PG, too.

My understanding was that staff had to this season consider Biggie's sensitivity to losing the starting role and overall playing time.

Yeah, glad to see Iffy stay if he wants to play his limited role on this improving team. He always seems happy and I've never heard anything less than positive about his effort and attitude. Maybe a free education on a winning team is what some guys appreciate more than straight playing time.ace wrote:Regarding Iffy- remember that his overall eligibility situation, especially with the inconsistencies of the NCAA, is not completely certain.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
Let's see if Reischel to Maine materializes.
Wonder where Biggie will land?
If he graduates, he can play next year, as can Reischel.
Both 5 year players.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
The ideal allocation for these three scholarships is probably a point guard and two bigs. Let's see if the marketplace allows us to do that.

Gotta get at least two more guys, hopefully a PG and big man. Very surprised about Biggie too.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
True. I would also think that our oft-noted lack of frontcourt depth and APR issues both played a role in his being kept around (Keep in mind that JR and Biggie are graduating). People may not be overly impressed with what they've seen from Iffy so far, but at least he is a big body if nothing else. I also wonder about his value as a transfer, since he would have to sit out a year and technically only has one year of eligibility left.ATPTourFan wrote:Yeah, glad to see Iffy stay if he wants to play his limited role on this improving team. Wow with the biggy/iffy thing.
They will replace biggie, GIL, TJ, JR in the minutes department! It's sort of a new team.

Thanks to all three for their contributions. They all helped in one way or another the last couple of years and we never heard of any of them being a distraction in any way. I wish them well in their next endeavors.

I liked the idea of Biggie being the back up PG next year. He has improved every year he's been here and I figured he'd be better next year too. Hope they kick ass wherever they go! Love all former Rhody Rams! Maybe this is when Dan has EC and JT start to run the point?? Maybe get another PG

So now we have three scholarships open and barring unforseen circumstances we have three after next year with Iffy, McGlynn and Watson moving on.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
I am very appreciative of all of the guys that came here and were a member of our family. But I am not sad to see Biggie go. He flashed a few times, but overall not a big fan of his game. I am more than comfortable going forward without him, even if they have to cobble 10 PG minutes per game between the other three guards when Jarvis needs to sit.

Thanks so much to all of them. I know I've bitched at times about all 3, and some more than others - but it takes huge stones to jump onto a sunken ship and try to revive it. We should all be grateful.
They should be commended for marching themselves to the slaughter for the betterment of this program. Hats off to all of them.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
Please excuse me, I'm going to gush a minute about Biggie, even while acknowledging that what ATP said above has some merit to it. Even so, Biggie's a guy who lost his starting job twice and was still never a disruption. The talk about the incredible chemistry on this season's team was absolutely true, and every single guy contributed. Academically, Biggie was the latest of qualifiers before his freshmen year and is now on track to be a college graduate in four years. That's a tremendous credit to the staff here and, most importantly, Biggie himself.

I will say that for coming onto a team that was in such a bad place, it is sad that Biggie and Jarelle won't have their Senior Day moments here.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
I know Jarvis is point blue ram. I'm saying maybe Dan will start to use EC and JT in PG situations now.
The five guards we have are enough I think.
It seems totally up in the air in regards to who else might be brought in.
I second that Rowdy Ram

Agreed, Ace. As it played out this year, the point guard transition was executed very well. Congratulations to Biggie for his expected graduation and eligibility for the grad-transfer provision next season.

Why would they need to keep Hare on scholarship next year? The guy bailed on the team twice. It shouldn't have to hurt us.

The Biggie announcement is a surprise, remember when Preston missed a bunch of games his senior year and we were void a backup PG?
Hare was thrown of the team, I would believe he is out of the picture.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
I'm betting Jarvis leads the team in minutes next year. If you look at minutes played down the stretch this year, he was playing close to 35 every game that he wasn't in foul trouble. I think there was one he played 38. Yes, we need a backup, but Jarvis is capable of playing major minutes. In the last half of the season, he and Biggie were on the floor at the same time quite a bit. I think Jarvis is one of the leaders next year.

In all seriousness, surprised by Biggie and Jarelle leaving. Butler, less of a surprise, but I have nothing but good wishes for all three and sincere thanks for their work in moving the program forward.
I am now more than ever interested in the possibilities for what is to come this Spring in terms of recruiting. Four was a good appetizer. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Re: Biggie, Jarelle, and Matthew
Well, I have to say, that all three of the players leaving,
always were into each game, cheering their teammates on.
I wish them well, on their next journey.
While we may have criticized their play on occasion,
it was surely never personal.
The Reischel to Maine rumor has been around for weeks.
Yes with Watson,Oneykaba and Glynn as seniors, plus the three
more this year, Dan can really play with bringing in a transfer to sit out,
or whoever they feel can help right away.
One thing you don't want, is all six being open next year.
That leads to unbalanced classes, and messes up recruiting.

I hate to bring this up, but is there realistically a chance that they are considering Hare coming back? If not, then wouldn't this situation have been put to rest officially and his scholarship opened up officially? Just looking for a clarification.
