Well we now know Rhody will indeed travel to Palo Alto, California, to face Stanford in their on-campus arena, Maples Pavilion. Exact Time still TBD as well as TV coverage.

That jives with Taylor's post above -- late afternoon Pacific Daylight Time game.

However, I wonder what Stanford Men's Hoops considers a "night game"

Still a chance if either St. Mary's or Vanderbilt advance to the third round. We are seeded higher than both of them.

Well in looking at the ESPN upcoming games, they have one blocked off for Friday night, one blocked off for Saturday morning, one blocked off for Sunday morning, 1 blocked off from 7:30-9:30 PM Sunday night and 4 blocked off for Monday night. And there's only 8 games in the next round.

So unless the TV schedule is wrong it would have to be the 7:30-9:30 PM slot.

Also, that warm San Francisco air will sooth aches and bruises. Also Stanford is not in session right now, they are on a quarter system. So no student crowd.

Wow:
Stanford participated in March Madness in 13 of the 14 seasons before Dawkins’ arrival and has made it once in his seven years.

Picked 22nd in the country by Blue Ribbon, but finished the season on a 7-9 swoon. Defense seems to be a problem: in 4 of those 9 losses, opposition scored 80-plus.
Unlike URI, an experienced team, led by three seniors:
6-2 Chasson Randle, 18.9 ppg, took 221 3s
6-6 Anthony Brown, 14.6 ppg, 7 rebs, 161 3s
6-11 Stefan Nastic, 13.6 ppg, 6.4 rebs

Will be good if Gil is healthy to match up with Nastic.

Not that it really matters, but since this is being played at the same location that the NCAA women's tourney is being held, I wonder if they will switch out the floors, or keep the NCAA tourney floors out there.

This Stanford team has seven players between 6'8" and

Not a great matchup. They're 8-0 at home OOC.

I don't think the NCAA Women's tournament does the official generic NCAA floors for opening round sites. I could be wrong.

EDIT: Found a photo of a women's 2014 NCAA tournament opening rounds site and it was the normal host school's floor.

They will switch them out for TV purposes. Those NCAA courts are there partly for ownership/copyright reasons.

Speaking of which... is anyone discussing the rule changes for the NIT? Shot clock... arc?

How do these affect us vs Stanford?

XC, see my post above. Opening Round women's sites do not use the generic NCAA floor. They do starting for the regionals, such as when the Ryan Center was NCAA-ized the week Dan Hurley signed on the dotted line in Kingston.

Not the most impressive resume of wins. They certainly played a lot of good teams, and played some of them close.

Not our best matchup, but certainly a game we can win. Depends on which team shows up and how hard the travel affects us.

Either way if the road for us ends Sunday, this year was fantastic, and I'd be worried if I were the rest of the A10.

ATP, I think they went down to the dungeon in Tootell, dusted the old one off and moved it back upstairs on Hurley's signing day.

Stanford is going to be interesting, they are definitely a big team with a better on paper offense. But we are better defensively.

Ultimately, this is our preseason for next year. So good for us regardless. Still hope we embarrass them at home. I mean how full circle would that be. It would definitely exercise some demons.

They also could be waiting until today's games are complete to come up with a time...

Sunday is about as good as they could have hoped for, and the players are excited about going to CA. This match-up is a perfect example of who ends up in the NIT. Hope the overachieving, in it for the experience team takes it over the underachieving, can't believe we're here team.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This NIT game (and any additional NIT games we have the misfortune of having to play) is an utter waste of time. It is meaningless. I think it would have been better if Stanford had declined the NIT bid, and I'd like the 6th Man to officially boycott the NIT home games, if only to send the administration a message that this is NOT good enough. We "won" tonight but the boys might as well have saved their wasted effort and stayed home. And for the record I hope we lose the next NIT game so that we can stop wasting time and stop pretending that the coaching staff is doing a "good" job. I've been a loyal Stanford alum for a long time, but we gotta call a spade a spade, and we suck.

I agree with the Stanford poster. They have three seniors leading the team. That is a recipe for NCAA or bust. The NIT for a young team like ours is great for experience and the continuing build of a young team. This tournament takes on a different perspective depending on the status of the team.

In 1970, Al McGuire and Marquette turned down an NCAA
bid, because they didn't like the region they were picked in.
Teams that refused an MIT bid include, NC State. which had been the previous year's NCAA champion.
Oklahoma State, Louisville, Georgia Tech, and Georgetown.
The NCAA has to play nice with the NIT, because in 2005, the NIT brought an anti-trust suit against
the NCAA.
The crux of the suit was the NIT claimed the NCAA was trying to eliminate them.
It was settled with the result of the NCAA working with the NIT, as we see today.

My question is when r we going out there. Obviously, 5-6 hour long plane ride, 3 hour time difference, jet lag etc does not bode well for any team traveling on Sat for a Sunday game.

To me, it makes sense to spend a few more dollars and get out there as soon as possible and get aclamated to west coast time. No doubt, there will be little Home Court fan advantage for Stanford in the game, if we can eliminate the travel baggage, it will really become more of a neutral site game.

My guess they fly out Friday.

This is a tired and banged up team, it's going to be tough to win 2 games on the road [assuming we will play Col. St.]

That game will be very difficult. That's a very good team. Let's REALLY hope they stumble before that.

Have to watch their attendance numbers for tonight and their next game. I doubt they lose tonight.

They are major pissed about being left out of the Dance, and rightfully so.

A lot of you guys are overthinking this game, Stanford has lost 8 of their last 12 games, height can only mean so much when up against much greater skill. A10 has by far the toughest teams in this tournament. I expect Stanford to be like the GW game, close for awhile but we pull away at the end. There crowd at their last game was god awful, im not worried about their home court advantage , we win this game we have a home game at the Ryan center , South Dakota state is smashing Colorado. as I said before and from the beginning we are probalby one of the 3 of the best teams in this tournament, we should have no problem making it to the final four in the NIT.

South Dakota State is up by 9 at half against Colorado State (#1 seed in Rhody's bracket).
If South Dakota State wins, Rhody could get another home game.
Without looking what is South Dakota State's knickname?
