Game #27: @ La Salle - Saturday 12:30pm

Unread post by RhowdyRam02 »

There comes a time in every season when someone needs to step up and say get on my back, I'll carry you. Well Keaney Blue, get on my back, cause I'm starting these game threads the rest of the way. If you want to bitch about free throws or say there's nothing left to play for then you're not ready for this thread, come back to this thread tomorrow. If you're going to do the same tomorrow then you're still not ready, come back Saturday. This isn't the thread for free throws, tight rims, or sleeves. This is the thread where we set the pace for the rest of the A10. We play before everyone else on Saturday. Midweek we play Tuesday, everyone else plays Wednesday or Thursday. Next Saturday we play before everyone again. So here's how this is going to work. We treat LaSalle like they were a tiny high school in RI on Saturday. Then the rest of the day everyone has to keep up with our win. Then Tuesday we go into Dayton and win, just like we always do against them, then once again everyone has to match our win. Then next Saturday we kill the hawk that supposedly can't die, and you guessed it, everyone has to follow us. We control the league.

Now let's go get ourselves a fucking banner!

Game is being broadcast on NBCSN at 12:30

Ugliest gym in the A-10, by far.
Stop Price like we did last time, and we're good.
Just need Hassan to stay out of foul trouble.
He only blocked 10 shots in the last Lasalle game.
We need to find him more on offense.

Obviously nothing is a must win until Brooklyn but I really do not want to take a 2 game lousing streak into Dayton...Gotta finish the season strong and bring some confidence to NY and that starts with a W @ Lasalle

there's going to be a lot of frustration taken out on LaSalle. They know they had this last one and gave it away.

I don't think anyone expects us to shoot like we did last night.

Learn lessons, make corrections, and put it into La Salle on Saturday.

I feel bad for any team that takes us lightly after last night.

Our D held one of the best offenses in the country to 22 points in the 2nd half. Our offense was a once a year storm of awfulness.

LaSalle has lost four of their last six games. Two of these were to St. Louis and Fordham (both on the road). The Explorers are now barely top 100 RPI as they currently sit at #100. A few weeks ago they briefly had an RPI better than URI.

LaSalle plays better at home having just four losses at Gola this season - Villanova, American, Davidson, and UMass.

One game at a time. Moving on to LaSalle.
This Rhody team has shown character and toughness.
Look how they responded to the SJU loss.
Time to respond to last night the same way.
Get up, dust yourself off and go kick some ass!

When they win out they will be Co-Champs!
There isn't a tiebreaker for regular season championship.

I don't care if we win Saturday by 20 points, or 1 point.

Style points don't count.

Just win the freaking game, any way they can......

We still need 2 wins to clinch a bye. I do not want to rely on a Umass loss to get the bye!! Get the 1st one on Saturday. Terrell took Price totally out of the 1st game and needs to do it again. JG and JT will rebound and have a good game together leading us to the big win.

LaSalle has to be totally demoralized themselves.

They have played like dog crap their last 2 games.

Let's make sure they don't find their game right off the bat Saturday.

My only concern is the short turnaround time between games.

This is not an easy spot for a young team. Have to be down after last night, but will have to find energy playing an early game against a hungry team in a high school environment with 1000 fans. Wont be easy, but yes we need this win.

I wish I knew what kind of team we'll see Saturday, BAR.

Either we bounce back with a vengeance and win easy, or there's a carryover from last night.

No time for a slump, with Dayton coming up next Tuesday.

We win this, we'll get the bye no doubt.

So, another big game awaits.

We'd lost six games before this one and followed five of those up with double digit wins. Our average scoring margin in those six follow-up games is +19.

I'm not worried about carryover.

Gil had his best game of the year against LaSalle. Would like to see that happen again. We don't match up well against Wright. Give him his and shut everyone else down. Relentless!

:o :o We lose a game by 1 and we are still tied for 1st. This program is truly in a different place.

Every game is big now. Played themselves into this. Buckle up and win some games. I don't think anyone is good enough to win out. Maybe we are? 8-)

I'm pulling for league championship and won't be surprised if it comes true. 1 week.

Just got my tickets for tomorrows game. Its been a while since rhody won a game in the philly area...

I think the last win may of been the ulmer put back vs drexel. I have been to just about every game the past 4-5 yrs or so in the area. Including this years St Joes. Ugh brutal.

Hoping the streak ends tomorrow. LaSalle is in a free fall, but I expect a better effort from them at home. Rhody did a great job on price the first game. LaSalle goes as Price and Wright go.

Forget Pat's and Geno's. Jim's Steaks is the best Philly has to offer. I think the original is on South Street but there is one just east of LaSalle. So, if you are coming from the north or east, it's an easy stop.

I agree that Gola is the worst venue in the A10. Much worse than Rose Hill Gym, all things considered. Not much going on around there. Saw a few games down there when Jimmy and Daniels were playing.

Campos. Undoubtedly the best in Philly, I would rate Jim's a close second-- of the touristy ones, Pats over Geno's. But true Philadelphia natives prefer either Campos or Jim's.

The Philly version of the steak and cheese (the so called "cheesesteak" which infuriatingly reverses the significance of the fundamental ingredients) is an absolute abomination.

I think the term cheese is a misnomer for it. It should be something like "chemical-cheese-like-product" steak.

I blacked out before getting to the end of that sentence. Holy cow...D'Angelo's? Do you go to Sbarro for good pizza?

Also, there is a spot on the other side of the Delaware River called the Roman Pantry off 295. It really is the definition of a hole in the wall spot. You can't even believe this cheesesteak is coming out of there. Not close to LaSalle but a ridiculous cheesesteak.

No doubt. When I was there, we used to go to a place where they melted cheese on it. Big difference. Cheese wiz doesn't cut it for me.
I was addicted to Geno's. Loved their sauce. Can anyone (not in the Philly area) guess who they're named after?

Doesn't look like it was named for anybody.
"According to Vento, the name Geno's was chosen because Joe's Steak Place was already in business. He improvised the name from a broken door on which someone had painted GINO and modified the spelling to prevent confusion with a regional fast food chain called Gino's. Vento later named his own son Geno, and the latter now works in the family business"

ATP, at least Rosehill gym is interesting and historical.

If you google Geno's the guy Vento's place is what everyone is talking about.

I did the Geno's thing in South Philly only because it is the tourist thing to do. Food was nothing special. It was akin to steak-umms with cheese-wiz.

Since the subject is food and not basketball.
Gotta tell you....the sausage and peppers at The Ryan Center
is terrific!
In honor of all the cheese steak talk, I had a good one at the newly
re-opened Miss Cranston Diner, tonight.
Nice place, but now in an odd location. Waitress said it's been opened for a month.
(their old place burned down)
I'm on Oaklawn Avenue plenty and Daniel Boone wouldn't have found this place,
in a little strip mall off the street.
