Game #19: @ Fordham - Wednesday 7pm

Unread post by rhodyrudder »

I can't do anywhere near the job of native and many others of you, so I'm not going to attempt to write a preview. One can be added, or a new thread can start to accommodate that and the actual game talk.
I am basically just asking if there is any word on if/when this game will be played.
Has the team left yet? Has anyone at Rhody or at Fordham made an announcment?

I continue to hate Fordham. I also hate a road game with travel issues and probably no E.C.

I like that they already beat Fordham, even with a pretty pathetic display of basketball prowess.

Haven't heard much on the travel plans / status. I asked Bill Koch about it yesterday and he said nothing was set in stone. Figured we'd see something from the Rhody MBB account by now. Maybe they're waiting until Wednesday morning?

Well, unless this game is postponed, it will be the first
Hurley era game that I totally missed.
Fleetwood Mac and my bucket list comes calling Wednesday night.
Of course, if Fleetwood Mac was postponed to Thursday........

Will be interesting if they play and nobody can get there to see it. That tiny gym totally empty will look pretty interesting to watch. Although now that I say that, I'm not even sure we have a way to watch it.

That's going to be difficult. Probably wont be able to leave very early due to Tuesday's weather. Dan might be learning about a New England storm very intimately. Will make this game even tougher.

Sometimes getting to a game just a couple of hours before tipoff helps. Why that is, I don't know.

Didn't that happen last year when they went to Olean? Then they played great.

If they can get there, they can get to NYC. I don't think NYC is going to get close to what we're going to get.

With the order to stay off the roads and advance warnings, I would think 95 will be clear enough to get there.

The weather/accumulation isn't bad at all here in NYC. I know New England got hit harder. I wonder if plans will be altered and they will try and get the team out tonight.

At least so far, things aren't really bad, especially in South County. Only about 600 National Grid customers without power, and the snow has been light and fluffy. It makes for really odd drifts and accumulations - My car has absolutely no snow on it, but there is 24 inches in the small 'yard' portion of my apartment. I doubt anything is going to be open today anyway, but by Wednesday, it wouldn't surprise me if most non-government and non-school agencies are back online.

Here in Groton, same thing. The snow has stopped, the storm moved away quicker then they forecast.

One side of my car has no snow around it, the other side has a 4 ft. drift next to it.

The Nemo blizzard a year or so ago was much worse due to the sticky snow which pulled down branches. There is no snow stuck to my arbor vitae this time when with Nemo I lost big chunks of it due to the heavy, frozen snow pulling them down.

From about 8-10 this morning, it wasn't doing anything here in Portsmouth. It's almost like there was an eye to this storm. It's back at full force now though.

Kind of takes the fun out of seeing them, though.
My cousin has tickets for Friday's show in DC, and she's
worried that could be moved up, too.

Just shoveled myself and my daughter's car out.
120 foot driveway is nice, but a pain in the ass when it snows.
Put Pam on the shovel and nothing will stick to it.
The old bull still gets it done, while my daughter is yelling something about
getting a heart attack. Just because my father had six.......
Took Arthur for a walk and one of my neighbors has about six foot drifts
covering her car and the front of her house.
What a mess.

Eastern CT. has gotten about 2 feet.

RI at least that.

Eastern Mass. including the Boston area is getting hammered.

My son called, they have almost 3 feet and it's going to continue until around midnight.

He came from Utah [Park City], and he said even they didn't get many storms this bad.

We've had a couple of lulls in Westerly but it's up to my knees and I'm 6-2. It's still snowing lightly, but I don't think we'll get much more.

According to Hurley EC will be a game time decision (or day-to-day) for basically the rest of the season. I think it will all depend on how he feels that day, but I would be surprised to see him play tomorrow.

It's a tough decision. If EC plays but is, say only 50%, and he turns it over all game, is that a help?

Maybe he can be used more as a decoy, since he will always get more attention on D than the others.

Of course, we need guys who can make 3's, and EC is one of our very few threats there.

Any small benefit he could provide as a decoy on offense would likely be vastly overshadowed by the negative impact his injury would have on the defensive end.

Well, we need at least one guy to step up on offense in his absence. Against St. Bona it was Terrell.

Who will it be against Fordham? It needs to be somebody, or two.

Obviously this team needs EC to win - but if they can learn to win without him...we'll be that much better when he comes back. At least other people stepping up to score points.

I hope for his health's sake he sits tomorrow night and is rested for saturday's game.

We honestly should be able to handle Fordham without EC, and we'll be that much better for GW with him back.

The E.C. injury doesn't seem to be getting that much attention, which is fine, I guess, since there's not much they can do about it. He'll eventually play, at the highest level he can, but he won't be practicing much. It's a shame. But nobody else feels sorry for a team dealing with a significant injury, so these guys won't either.
