How is there no foul called against Hassan on that dunk? The officiating has been just brutal, and in no way would i blame the officiating for us losing this game, we're just as brutal.

We're in the double bonus with 6 minutes left and I feel like its not even an advantage for us with the way we brick FT's.

EC just committed the 4th foul we've had on a jump shooter, 2nd taking a 3 pointer, awful.

We are bad without Terrell in the game, even when he isn't stuffing the stat sheet.

We get the lead to four and make stupid fouls.
Offense can't buy a three.
This was a winnable game.
It's official.... I HATE these announcers!

The Minnis experiment must come to an end. Not sure why he see's the floor, he was billed as a defensive specialist and he couldnt guard me and I'm over 40. He turns it over at an alarming rate and he cant shoot or create his own shot. Time to cut bait with him and just let Jarvis take over. Not sure how a smart guy like Hurley fails to realize this, very Baron like if you ask me.

88, Dan will soon enough.

I agree though, with the game in the balance Biggie shouldn't be out there.

Jarvis is making enough mistakes himself, but his upside is far more than Minnis.

1:37 left and they work the offense like they have all day.
Just terrible.
Cox is a 46% FT shooter. They should have been hacking him in
the last 10 minutes.
Sorry, we're not looking at a well coached team.

This team is still a far way offensively from making a run at the tournament. Georgia Tech isn't that great of a team, yet slapped a zone on us and we were totally inept. We'll face better teams with better preparation for us (tough with 1 day to prepare), so we better improve on that end of the floor. Defense will make up for this abomination of an offense right now.

Awful... Come out of a timeout and dribble dribble dribble... offense is abysmal... No pressure defense to get easy hoops.. If you don't have shooters you better have a transition game... Don't see it!!

I think going into the year we all knew there would be ups and downs, but seeing the downs live is still never fun. This one was brutal to watch and less forgivable than the Kansas game. It doesn't change anything for me in the big picture because I knew coming in there would be head scratchers from this young group. Doesn't make it any less aggravating to watch, though. Tough last hour or so of sports :-/

TJ is the best PG we have until Jarvis is ready.

Less Biggie and EC at the point. Please.

EC is a 2.

Until roles are defined we will have hiccups like this.

Dan will get these guys back in the gym and get them straightened out for the So. Miss game.

Not much chance for a young team to get their act together down here.

Having said this, I hear these guys shoot 3's well in practice. They are freezing up during games.

Going to take a while longer I'm afraid. No way am I going to say they just aren't that good, because they will be.

I don't get the lack of pressure defense. When are we going to see it?

Very bad loss. Game was very winnable. Team is just too lazy with the ball turning it over and can't hit any outside shots. Flat performance today.

even when we are going well...we are not seeing the style we were told we were going to play. We have no half court or zone offense, and we have a difficult time even running a break, and we can't shoot...but besides that we are in good shape.

URI ALWAYS NEEDS TO BRING ITS "A" GAME!!!!!! Nothing can ever be taken for granted, this team isn't talented enough, nor would Coach Hurley allow it.
I watched Georgia Tech yesterday….Are they absolutely skilled? No. Are they deadly from the outside? No. Are they this or that? No? But, they are big, strong and can score points in the paint off of misses. If the line on this game is more than 3 points either way I'd be shocked….

Rod, poorly coached?

While I don't always agree with some of the moves Dan makes, I think he's searching for a spark with all the switching of roles.

I agree with fouling Cox, but we would have fouled ourselves out doing that.

What I don't understand is the piss poor number of turnovers. Yes, young players make mistakes, but the sheer number of unforced errors reminds me WAY too much of Baron's days here.

That has GOT to stop.

Unless our EFFICIENCY on the offensive end improves, I can't see this team making a significant step forward (aka NIT or NCAA). Becoming a jump shooting team when we aren't good jump shooters isn't going to win us many games against good teams. Make no mistake, GT is not an NCAA tournament team. Just wondering where this style of play is that Dan promised us. Maybe it'll come to fruition in time, but I haven't been too thrilled with us offensively this year. Good defense SHOULD lead to pretty good transition opportunities and runouts, but it only comes in flashes and spurts with this team of athletes. Like I said, our defense has been great and will keep us in almost every game but the offense will turn those close games into W's.

If Biggie Minnis doesn't play another minute of basketball in his college career, I'd be the least sad person.

We need an inside/outside game. I begged for this last year. This 3 man weave sucks balls. Put Gil and Earl on the block and make easy shots, draw fouls and eventually free up our guards to hit non-contested 3s.

Just no three point game shown in games, maybe wrong on JR, he may be the only offensive threat we have other than EC, at this point, so start him. Don't like the offense game plans, no inside game with no apparent desire to force one upon the opponents bigs, play Jarvis more, he's not going to learn sitting. Disappointing loss, these scoring droughts we kill us over the long haul.....lost weekend.....no?

We made plenty of errors in the second half.
Some dumb fouls and terrible shooting.
This is a worse shooting team than last year. Why?
Last year we has X and EC after the New Year. So far,
we don't have a compliment to EC. I'm hoping Terrell finds his offense and soon.
Martin scored 10 points (or 8?) in the second half.
You need his interior offense, especially when Gil doesn't
do much, like tonight.
Seriously, I know it's sacrilege, to think the unthinkable, but did we look like a well
coached team tonight?.

RIFan, best point all night.

If we press and play the style Dan said we were now equipped to play, we would be much more active and there would be a lot less standing around.

Just maybe, we're NOT yet ready to play that style, because Jarvis isn't ready, EC and Minnis CAN'T play the point, and Terrell is too raw?

Also, the Big O and Watson aren't geared to that style of play. The only bigs we have that can, are Gil and Hassan.

We are a lesser version of VCU right now. They can't play half court, neither can we. However, they have 12 guys that can play the Havoc style, and we only have a few. It's not going to work.

I doubt we'll see much pressing and running this season, especially against better competiton. Dan might be re-thinking some things right now.

I'm beyond pissed. With E.C. and Hassan alone, we should have a good offensive game plan. But, sadly we don't. Dribbling and passing back and forth from 21ft accomplishes shit. Shit. Pound the ball inside and have people respect your post game. Gil and Earl are big bodies, use that. We need to create open lanes, not have the bigs watch E.C. dribble for 30 seconds and then look confused.

I'm lost.

EC is literally a different player every night. Needs to get some preschool lessons in sharing. We had a 3 on 2 break and ec dribbled too far into contact instead of passing it up for an easy basket.

How many 3s does a team..and a certain guy playing the 5...need to take and miss before they realize to go without that game plan? When we put the ball inside we scored. They need to involve hassan more. It's absurd that we still play the Jim baron pass the ball around the perimeter for 20 seconds offense.

Just disappointed. I thought we were better than this...need to step it up for southern miss.

There are a number of aspects to coaching, but to the extent that good coaching should scheme you into easy baskets sometimes in the halfcourt offense or influence a team's ability to take care of the ball, we need to do better. Dan overall has done a great job with the program, but those two things have to imrpove - and I bet they will. A lot of it is on the players, though. I hate to oversimplify, but you have to make some shots and you have to hang onto the basketball. And if you aren't going to make any threes, stop taking so damn many.

The guys are young. Hell, the coach is young in his own way. I am confident they can get through it but its going to take a concerted effort. It won't happen just because you keep showing up.

Rod, I know what you're saying, but my take on this is, we still don't have the necessary pieces to play Dan's style of play. Yes, we can play aggressive D. It's not translating to the other end however.

It really looks like these guys just aren't meshing, in the half court or on the break.

Will they in time? It will get better as the young guys mature, there's too much backcourt talent on this team not to.

When you have this much dysfunction out there, it does make the coach look like he's lost at times. He's got to put all these pieces together, and he doesn't have enough pieces yet.

EC we all know is good, but he can't do it himself. Minnis can't do it at all. The freshmen get lost at times. TJ is playing closer to his potential than anyone on the team, thank goodness for that.

It's got to be frustrating for this coaching staff, they and we want to be good, and fast. Looks more and more like this season is going to be better than last year, but still not good enough to be NIT or NCAA quality.

It's got to be better next year. We need more pieces. Dan still has to prove he can win at this level. It's getting closer, little by little. It's going to continue to test our patience, that's for sure.

I'm not buying it. Last year X had some bad moments and made some clutch errors. Now E.C. is doing the same. Player mistakes or bad coaching?

I think we are not being coached X and O offensively that well.

Why is EC getting a free pass on this board. He's had three good halfs this season. The second against Nebraska and the Santa Clara game otherwise he looks horrible. The offense is stalling when it hits him. I understand he is our best option but good passing and a fluid offense would be better. This offense looks like Barons .

Our offense is stagnant because they are all too concerned with running the offense. They often pass up early spots where they can go to the basket or a pass. Our offense isn't decisive enough.

Good basketball is like running the football, don't shake or make too many moves in the hole, 1 cut and go.

EC and JT are the worst guards in ball screen action I have seen. Something is supposed to happen after they get by the screen, not the same play again.

I don't think he is. He is the darling of URI basketball right now, so I think the fact he is taking as much criticism as he is a sign our fan base is paying attention.

I do not want to call out student athletes by name but we have a couple of guys who need to learn to play better off the ball. At least put yourself in a position on the floor you are able to quickly score from if you are left open. We need more back door cuts. I did not expect such shaky passing with a three guard offense.
