I though this line in Gil’s Blog was very telling about the group of young men Coach Hurley has assembled, “ I would do anything to be a freshman again among such great group of guys at URI”.

Re: Biruta's weekly blog ....
If Gil makes his blog interactive with Q&A, it will be a love fest if he can stay out of foul trouble and on the court. With the players we have this year, this is achievable.

I had to read this like five times before I understood it, haha. Awesome story. My mother had a friend whose sister was living in the United States and working at a beauty salon. That person had a friend who worked at a barbershop and gave a haircut to a man who was a co-worker of one of the best Lithuanian players of all time. That player was Arturas Karnisovas and he played collegiately at Seton Hall with...you guessed it...Coach Hurley!

I had to draw something that resembled a family tree before I go it.

I know I need to get out of that habit! Haha he actually brought it up on the radio show last night, he said in person he doesn't mind people calling him Gil but he likes to go by Gilvydas "officially" in like intros and stuff. Then they started talking about his many nicknames. He's a funny dude.rodfromcranston wrote:Gilvydas to you!

Re: Biruta's weekly blog ....
Never tried the pink panther, but it sounds like I might need to next time.
Just read this week's installment of "Wednesdays" and I wasn't surprised Gilvydas mentioned talking with program supporters at the Mews. A variety of fans/boosters/media (myself included) had conversations with #55 throughout the evening and each time I noticed Gilvydas was totally engaged with whoever came by to chat with him, relaxed, and making eye contact throughout.
It was a treat to have a few minutes to talk about hoops and his double-major and our favorite play, One Stay Slip.

Doesn't get into the injury much. Obviously he's been interviewed by Don Kaull: questions sound like statements.

Re: Biruta's weekly blog ....
I have an hilarious video I wanted to share with Gilvydas.
His FB won't accept shares.
It's about the Mayor of Vilnius, the capitol of Lituania.
Seems he's sick of cars parking wherever they want, and decided to
set an example.
So, he got an armored vehicle and crushed a new Mercedes sedan
that was illegally parked.
Then he waited for the owner to come out, shook his hand, pointed to his crushed car,
and told him it was for parking illegally.
The oddity was, there were virtually no cars in the street pictures they showed
of illegally parked cars.
I thought Biruta would have liked it.

Wow. That was really thoughtful. Every time I think I'm ok with having watched him play his last college game- and this comes from following his career through 3 different schools at 2 different levels- I think again and maybe I'm not.

Very moving latest blog.
These are not just words Gil puts into this latest Blog but I can feel the words coming straight from his heart.
Clearly this is a basketball program being built the right way.
Rhody Basketball is becoming more and more special with each passing day.
It's not just about wins and losses either which really makes it special.

Good for Gil. For as much criticism as he got on the court at times, no one ever questioned his character. He is nothing but class and will be a great ambassador to the university after his playing career is over.
