Rhody relevant, from Ferry-
"The thing we look at is continuing to bring in talent to compete and for us it’s taking that next step. When you take over a rebuilding project the way guys like Danny [Hurley] and I have at our respective schools that were at rock-bottom -- it doesn’t just happen overnight."

Ugh, that is a very Baronesque quote from Ferry - From day 1 Hurley said all the right things about turning the program around and that we'd be good sooner than later, the culture is changing and our recruiting is starting to pick up. Ferry has a daunting task to get Duquesne into the upper half of the A10.ace wrote:Rhody relevant, from Ferry-

At least Hurley's delivering big on the talent front. Can't wait for this season.

Ferry certainly had the "rock bottom" part right about where our team was.

Not seeing where anything in his remark was off base.
Duquesne came here and pounded us, last season.
I think Ferry is on the right track, as are we.

Yes, the coach speak doesn't become comical (baronesque) until it is clearly deflection from addressing issues of ineptitude. So far I would say Ferry is doing alright and he is right to suggest there is a long way still to go.

Enjoyed that JT interview. Jared really seems like a well put together young man who will thrive in this Hurley-led environment.

I loved when Chris asked him the one word to describe Hurley. A huge smile and then chose his words very carefully. He gets it already. Haha...

In all the interactions I've seen or heard this group of players seems very likeable. My uncle and cousin recently went to a workout and said every single player came over and introduced themselves at different times during the practice. Hurley is definitely bringing in both high character as well as high skilled players

I love that his expectation is rookie of the year. Also love that Butler is a guy that is working extra hard with EC and Terrell. I still think that this team is missing a sharp shooter and I hope he can be that guy off the bench to come in and knock down some threes

More than one person has told me that Butler could get quality PT next year.
Look for another interview from CD, this time with Jarvis Garrett. I assume will come out soon.

But my favorite part of that interview is his answer to how it felt to go through the recruiting process, with a reference to how he went through it twice...
"The second time, getting it right, felt better."

Re: DiSano's Summer Session Sit-Down
Knowing how his recruitment played out combined with what he had to say about Hurley, I thought his comment that one thing he learned in that process was how to get a feel for "who is going to do right by you, and who's not" was pretty telling. Pumped to have Jared on board. Great job by Chris, as usual.

Re: DiSano's Summer Session Sit-Down
Thank you, Chris, and COX for this great series. (Still waiting for the NBC10/VerizonFiOS/NESN featured Rhody content to be released this Summer)
It's already hard enough to make it through this offseason with all the anticipation for the real games in November. Grateful to have great content like this to satisfy my need for Rhody Hoop.

One of my favorite A10 coaches, Dr. John Giannini. I like his approach to coaching and building a program.
I thought this point was really interesting:
First of all, I understand the Atlantic 10 is more about chemistry and experience than it is recruiting. We all seem to recruit a similar level player, we all seem to play a lot of close games... and this league is more about developing your players and having a high level of chemistry and character than it is just trying to get a guy who's a little bit better than someone else.

GW's Mike Lonergan
His thoughts on Matt Cimino, just because several here have seen him play, with varying opinions:
Matt Cimino is a skilled post player who is about 6-10 but has to get stronger. He needs to work on his core but is very skilled and may see some time also.

Skilled? Yes...Motivated? No.....although you think that might change in a college setting.ace wrote:GW's Mike Lonergan

He talks about the new players, the close games last year, the need for Biruta to have a big year, recruiting in general and more.

Hare is still a work in progress but nice to see this:
Taking his first five weeks of summer session one where it was new to him after missing the entire year, to his second five weeks of summer session two… his focus, his work in the weight room, and his energy level is the best that it’s been since he’s been here.

Anyone know if Hare is on track to be eligible from the beginning of the season?

And the more I read about Matt Butler, the more it seems he could be a factor this year.

Re: DiSano's Summer Session Sit-Down
Great to hear Dan single out Jordan Hare as having a particularly good summer. Shows Jordan is buying into the system and process, getting the schoolwork done in both summer sessions. As much as it hurt the team last year to not have Jordan, he could be a very significant addition to the 2014-15 team. I hope he breaks into the starting line up.
