Nice opening game performance by Munford.

He hit 5-8 on 3 pointers, 5 rebounds and 9 assists.

James Young is also on the Wisconsin Herd. James Young was in the NBA for all of last season. Xavier Munford is 1000x better than James Young. C'mon, Bucks, make it happen.

ETA: Welp.

Even the Japanese press is using the "first time since...." when talking about URI going to the tournament. Can someone please assure me that when we go this spring that nobody is going to say "for the second time since..."? Because I was really looking forward to that being over and I need it to stop.

Billy Baron was in the news today, being quoted in an article titled "What are LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball Getting Themsleves Into In Lithuania?"

Former American players say the rural Lithuanian town where the two teens have signed to play is like living on a farm. No restaurants, no malls, but hey, no traffic congestion. Players stay at the Royal SPA Residence in Birstonas, 10 minutes from the arena.

"You can count on one hand the amount of street lights in that city," said veteran American pro player Billy Baron, who spent his rookie season in Europe at Rytas Vilnius for the man who will be the Ball brothers' new coach, Virginijus Seskus. "There is nothing to do in that place. It's the ultimate life of going to practice and back to the hotel."

Baron, a recent gold medalist for Jeff Van Gundy and Team USA at the FIBA Americup, recalled: "We'd come out to the parking lot after practices, and Coach was there selling meat to players out of the trunk of his car. Some players actually bought that stuff from him."

"Signing them is a publicity stunt for sure, and it's working," Baron said. "The Balls are on SportsCenter, but I'm here laughing because I know exactly what's waiting for them on the other side. When LaMelo gets hit with one of those screens, he might not be able to stand up. Those guys are bangers, Lithuanians play like it's a UFC match. ... If Vegas put a line on the Balls' over-under in Lithuania, I think they'd break it off after a month. Maybe it does work, I'm not hating on the kids, but the odds are stacked against them."

Munford made his Bucks debut on Saturday, and today the Bucks fired head coach Jason Kidd. Which was long overdue, IMO - Kidd was terrible.

So I checked out when Jimmy's team (BC Rytas) will play the Balls' team BC Vytautas:

Saturday March 3 10AM EDT - Rytas @ Vytautas
&
Sunday April 8 10AM EST - Vytautas @ Rytas

There are a number of streaming sites where Lithuania games show up, will try and remember to post links when they happen.

In addition to Jimmy B, the Rytas club also features 2x B1G defensive POTY Chris Kramer who went to back-to-back Sweet 16s at Purdue. The Balls' club Vytautas is also home to former Fordham player Kervin Bristol, who transferred there in 2010 and played two seasons. He had 122 blocks at Fordham, fourth best in program history.

No way to know. Believe their contract is 1 yr. In any event Liangelo will not be in the NBA for at least another 2+ years (he has to be 19) and I don't believe Lamello would be able until June because you're not eligible until after a year from high school graduation. That's not to say they won't move to another situation in Europe or elsewhere.

Also, just fwiw I don't like the Ball family either. The dad is a dick and the kids act like little shits...probably because they feel like cracking under all the weight he puts on them with his media bullshit. I was just posting those dates because somebody mentioned it would be nice to see Jimmy embarrass them and I agree. Don't know the likelihood but if they are there in 2 months it would be nice to see Jimmy Baron play again and also they are good villains to root against. That's all.

I think I heard today that Melo and Gelo combined for 80 Melo 43 and Gelo 37 ?? That's pretty impressive if true ??

Yeah, totally understand where you're coming from. Just seeing those dates in the post got me thinking that I bet there is no way they are still there in a few months. I just assume they'll be on to the next publicity stunt by then and will hate living in Lithuania that much.

Please no Ball talk in the former players thread. We are so lucky they aren’t affiliated with this University.

I saw ATP's message, but to clarify one thing quickly - The Ball brothers are playing two series of games. One is the Big Baller Brand exhibition series, which is against 19 and under competition mostly. Hence, them combining for 80 points. They went scoreless in the league Jimmy Baron probably actually plays in: http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/2207 ... anian-game
