And he went to the PC Banquet. Didn't like the food? Maybe the announcement of Dunn staying didn't help matters. Good landing spot for him with Gonzaga.

Dunn staying shouldn't have changed his mind. Goss would have sat next season while Dunn played, then Goss would have taken over as PG when Dunn left. If anything, Dunn staying could've been a positive as Goss would have had a whole season to practice against one of the best players in the country.

Former Nebraska and St. Anthony guard Tarin Smith is transferring to Duquesne. That's a nice pick-up for them and the conference. He really sought out a power conference offer initially, despite the advice he was given from some close to him, but now I'm anxious to watch Tarin develop in the A10.

I'm still wondering who replaces Biggie?
Can't see anyone on the current roster .
Biggie, for all his critics, had a very good assist/turnover
ratio.
EC, Jared and Four all have far more turnovers than assists.
Rumor has Biggie going to St. Peter's.

I could see Jarvis eating up 7 minutes and Jared at 5. That leaves five to cover.

From point guard starter to good player/teammate off of the bench to yet another invisible replacement…..Coach Hurley must have believed that he had an upgrade in mind before the release.

I think Biggie was fine for what he did. Good guy. Tough kid.

Sometimes he gets you 7-10 points. Sometimes you just leave him on the bench.

Biggie and Jarelle were fine. If players want to leave and explore other options, you generally let them.

Kind of interesting, the opinion of Biggie around here seems to be changing a bit now that he is gone. I don't remember too many people having much good to say about him during most games.

Biggie scored 7 or more points in 4 games. He also scored zero in 4 games.

I think the opinion of Biggie is higher because we don't have a comparable replacement. Four replaces some of TJ, all of Butler. Iverson replaces some of TJ, Reischel, and maybe some of Gil's production depending on how he's used. Thompson and Butts also fill roles to replace lost production - but there isn't a true PG on the roster other than Jarvis right now - anyone else would be playing spot duty, and it seems like it's going to be EC, Four, or maybe even Thompson that spells Jarvis when he needs a breather.

Biggie was maddening to watch, his basketball IQ just wasn't there. It's tough having a PG without a high bball IQ

One could say that about 90% of former URI points….And forwards, and centers, for that matter.

I was always critical of Biggie pretty much from the time his transfer to here was announced but I think at this point its a big loss. Biggie has the experience, he's used to Hurley, Hurley is used to him. I'm not too worried about our "combo" guards filling in while Jarvis is on the bench but if Jarvis goes down and misses significant time, the backup plan at this point looks really messy. I seriously doubt a quality point guard is going to walk through the door in May knowing he's going to be a backup.

At UConn, they seem to favor the lead guard being more
of a prolific scorer, than a playmaker.
Samuel is a pure PG, and he can take it to the hoop.
and play defense.
On the plus side of assists to turnovers.PLUS.....he can shoot free throws!

I was at the Texas/UConn game and watched a few others. My son went to all the Gampel games. It looked to me like he lost his confidence; was missing easy layups and so forth. Then he lost playing time. The kid is a talent and would be nice to have here for sure.

Former 4 star recruits leaving Memphis and coming to an A10 team is a thing now- this time, it's Pookie Powell to La Salle.

Not too surprising considering the relationship between the Harris family and Auburn coach Bruce Pearl

Seems like an odd choice given what just recently transpired at Seton Hall:

Interesting. I completely understand today's culture of basketball where kids bounce around high schools and prep schools, then they bounce around colleges, but wow. Its what 700 kids transferring this year? There aren't even 700 NBA basketball players. I know there is overseas money, but still.

I think going to a school spending four years there and gaining the support of a community and a sense of that is more valuable than whatever many of these kids chase. Not to say that it is always the kid's choice.

Like spend 4 years at PC, bounce around pro leagues, come back to Smith Hill and get in the General Assembly. Whats wrong with that Chukwu? It is a well worn path... PC--> GA. I'm kidding. Sort of. Kids can gain alot just by going to school.

They get major support for academics... they prob would get major support for Grad school testing and applications. Plus a varsity athelete bump. All of these kids could parlay their athletic ability into a serious education.

WOW! Stunning! They had so much hope for him.
With him transferring and Owens likely a non projector,
nobody coming in since Simon left, things not so
great on Smith Hill.
Funny, I was just thinking about Chukwu and who the hell we'd have to
guard him.
Not a problem, now.
Their board is saying he wasn't comfortable at PC.
Rallies about racial profiling at PC can't remotely be helping in recruiting.

From a timing sense, did Chukwu screw PC over or do them a favor? By waiting this long to transfer it puts Cooley behind the 8 ball to get a replacement but at the same time, does Dunn make the same decision to come back if he sees a roster with no one over 6'8 on it?

Of course the timing is a killer, just as Fortune's was
last year.
Who is PC going to find to replace their big man?
No way Dunn would have returned if he'd known
Chukwu was leaving.
You only have Bentil up front, with Harris gone,
Chukwu leaving and Owens probably not playing.
Rodney Bullock has been out for two years, and has never played a single game at
PC. Talk about rust.
