Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
Don't know how much knowledge Bill has of the situation, but he thinks Iffy gets the extra year.

Re: Iffy
By then, Iffy could be a big contributor to this team.
I know the staff thinks he will. They expect substantial improvement from him next year.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
He just needs to learn how to use his body for positioning without fouling on both ends and he could be incredible really. Like 12-14 and 9 guy.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
I would suggest his positives are better handling of the pumpkin when he has post up advantage, and anchoring space in some planned zone defensive changes....and a few defensive boards and outlet passes to Jarvis to fast break on passes rather than dribble...aaaahhhh next year....

I have hope for iffy. Plays great defense and is a strong rebounder. Sometimes even his offense comes around.

I think most people around the program have always felt that he would likely get a fifth year. I've tried to find out specifics about his situation but it's hard to et information; still, I always assumed that a fifth year would be likely for him.

Koch isn't the type to go out on a limb. If he says it, I believe it.

With 3 more years of a DI strength training program he could be our version of Patrick Young from Florida.

That's a very iffy thing to predict at the moment, a bit premature……..

His hands are his biggest problem. When a guard drives and passes the ball to him, he usually loses it.
12 and 9? I'd have to say I don't see that.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
Agreed Iggy, unless it's 12 boards and 9 points...
I'd be happy with Iffy being a solid rotational player - he doesn't need to be all-A10 for us to have success (whereas EC and Hassan do need to reach that level). Play good strong defense, rebound really well, and set solid screens on offense. I think that's a reasonable expectation and one that is within his ability to reach.

True. Bad hands are a bad thing.
It's a tough thing to teach. Either you have "good hands" or you don't.
I doubt it's a strength issue with him. He's built like a brick shithouse.
The one hope, is that he's still very raw.

Curious as to why you include Hare in this group?Kingston wrote:If this is true think of this freshman class in four EC Hassan, Iffy and Hare

I can't speak for Kingston, but my guess on his thinking is that if Hare did come back he would be a soph next year along with the other three.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
12 and 9 for the finished product. Not next year. 4-5 layups and 2 points at the free throw line aren't that difficult to come by if he could control his body and take the ball and bounce it off the square. Granted cant fumble it.
9 boards? for the finished product(his last year)? I'm assuming he is good.
NCAA teams have guys that can get you 12 and 9, which are not players that draw much fanfare.
This board has weird tendencies, like believing that having a guy play a position means that we shouldn't recruit that position until his senior year. You would think ppl think we should only have 5 guys here. Also that nominal stats or certain results are too high to ask for.
Speculating that he could have 12 and 8 by the end of his career is not going out on a limb. It is saying at best I hope that he can be a serviceable piece that contributes on a team that is considered good.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
Not every player at every position has to be a star.
Oneykaba could be a nice contributor by his junior season.
His one drawback is his hands of stone.
If he ever did 12-8 averages, I'd be very happy with that.
Those are nice numbers for complimentary player.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
Agreed that Iffy could be very serviceable as a good complimentary piece, but I think some people are underestimating how difficult it is to average 12 and 8.
Antonio Reynolds-Dean in his Junior year averaged 11.2/7.6, Senior year 13.2/6.6. I don't think his ceiling is on par with ARD. Sign me up for 8/6.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
No one in the A-10 this year averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds. Three players came close: Armwood (GW), 12.2 and 8.8; Reddic (VCU), 12.7 and 8.4 and LaLanne (UMass), 12 and 8.1.
So if you're saying that Iffy will play at that level as a senior, boy I would take that.

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
Question on Iffy is whether he just has stone hands, or is overthinking and not totally comfortable playing competitive basketball yet (basketball was not his first sport).
If he just has stone hands his ceiling is obviously lower. His game against Maine makes me think it is the level of competition that he is adjusting to, but that could just be rose colored glasses

Re: Bill Koch thinks Iffy will get 5th year of eligibility
Well, looking at A10 conf games only, which is a more normalized pool of data than OOC schedules which vary in quality, there are two players who averaged 12 and 9: Armwood and Reddic.Iggy1979 wrote:No one in the A-10 this year averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds. No, I wasn't disagreeing with that, but it's not like there aren't any A10 players with those numbers.Iggy1979 wrote:ATP: My point remains the same: is it realistic to project Iffy as the next Reddic?

12 and 8? Or 10 and 6? It isn't impossible to land among these stats. To cite just this year in the a10....
I think VCU isn't a traditional team in terms of reddic's opportunities. Considering Havoc.
